I would like to go to Target or maybe a quick lunch out with Jocelyn and DH before he goes back to work after next week, but I am not sure how soon is too soon to go out with baby.
BTDT moms, when did you take your LO out for the first time? Where did you go? For how long were you out?

With DS1, we went to lunch with my parents after his first visit with the pediatrician. It was after the lunch rush and we pretty much had the place to ourselves. With DS2, I think he was a week or so and we went to dinner with family that was in town. We were out for a couple of hours. Now with DS3 on the wayand no familt in town, he might be out and about a lot due to the other children's schedule.
I think that's a personal decision. With my first, I went out for lunch about two weeks after. With my second it was a month before we left the house for anything but the Dr. And with my third we went out after six weeks. I left her with dh a few times so I didn't feel isolated but only for little trips to the grocery.
I think besides doctor's appointments we went to a big family get-together at around 3 weeks and I also started taking DS to the library with me at 3 weeks. I can't remember anything earlier, the first few weeks were a blur!
Ds1, we went to breakfast with family after his first appt, so a few days? That same night we went to get our Christmas tree. We were out and about like normal after that and at Disneyland by 2 weeks old! I had a c/s so I took it easy with walking but we had a good time.
Ds2, we took ds1 to the park the afternoon we got discharged and didn't hesitate to go anywhere.
We had to go back to the hospital for weight checks and BFing help daily for the first 10 days. We stopped at our favorite coffee shop that first day after coming home to get some coffee and to show her off (I used to work there and am close with the owner and employees). Everyone is different, but I didn't hesitate to take her out immediately.
We stopped at BRU and Target on the way home from the hospital. Two weeks later, we are now pros at leaving the house. LO stays in his carseat and no one tries to touch him. Must have something to do with the mama grizzly look on my face when people get close.
We went out right away with our kids when they were born, in the first few days. I don't remember what we did. I do know that within 6 days after our first was born we had a dinner at my hisband's sisters with a lot of family, and we had a Brit party at ours with at least 25 people eight days after DS was born.
With my daughter, she was with me every day taking/picking up my son to/from daycare by the second week.
I can't remember what we did with DS #1 but with this LO we went to the pedi and out to lunch at 5 days old, the grocery store at 6 days old, and newborn photos at the photographers studio and Target at 7 days old. I wear him in a wrap and no one had touched him.
He went to the pedi at 2 days old and to Wal-mart at 3 days old. DS1 went out to dinner with us at a week or so old, but that was after several trips to Wal-mart/Target already. I don't see the harm in going out if he's in his car seat.
When DS1 was born, we had several doc appointments in the first two weeks for jaundice issues and a couple other things. We'd always got out to eat or by a store or something. I just kept Eli in the moby wrap? No one ever attempted to touch him and he had a good germ barrier.
