Constipation

DS is almost 2 and has had issues lately with constipation. Unfortunately I think he is now holding it in because the last couple of BMs were painful. Pedi office nurse suggested a small dose of Miralax to try to regulate him after clearing him with a suppository. Anyone have any experience with Miralax? I am a little reluctant to start the little guy on meds for an indefinite period of time. We have tried juice, fruits, activity, etc without success however. Any advice or reassurance re using miralax?

    We have to use Miralax from time to time -- every now and then we can go a week or two without it but sometimes we need it every couple of days. I think they told us we can use 2 tsp, but we are usually good with just 1 tsp. They reassured us that kids with Downs Syndrome, I think it was, have to use it everyday, so it's safe. It does seem to help -- after we tried juice, prunes, etc. We still have issues though at almost 2 as well, but it does seem to help some -- you will see how much it will take to help once you start and how often to use it. I would suggest starting slow and not doing it everyday unless you have to. Good luck!
