Help. DD waking up multiple times

Anyone else going through this? DD has gone from waking up three times a night to six to seven times. Before, she would dream feed and go right back down. Now she wakes up wanting to play, and when she finally sleeps she wakes up five minutes later. It's seriously making me consider sleep training. I'm suspecting it's a wonder week and I'm willing to wait a few more weeks to see if she'll improve.

  • Wow 7 times! I'd try to wait it out just to be sure(like you said) could be a WW. Possibly even teething starting? DD. randomly started waking up once, twice, three times then back again. She has all the symptoms of teething besides swollen gums. Hopefully you get good sleep soon!!

  • We have been going thought the same. I have been bringing her to our bed as it's the only way any of us get any sleep at all and its still disrupted. I am hoping its just teething and that we will get a break once the first few pop through
  • Thank goodness I'm not the only one. Last night DD2 went down at 7 and was up at 10, 11, 12, 1, 2, 3:30, 5, and was up at 6:15 for the day. And that is par for the course for the last 2 weeks. We are dying over here.

I would definitely sleep train, but we're flying to the US (7 hours difference) in 3 weeks and know that will mess everything up anyway. So we're waiting until we get back, and if things haven't drastically improved by then (I'm talking 3-hour sleep stretches), then we're doing something about it. We cannot survive on 1-hour sleep stretches.

  • We are in the same boat. Last night was actually better, he "only" woke up at 10, 12, 2, 5:30, and up for the day at 7. I'm waiting it out because I know he's teething and either in or finishing up a serious growth spurt.

I wish our problems were so clearly attributable to temporary problems. DD2 is not teething and she's not having a growth spurt.

Yikes. I'm sorry. :( What are her naps like? Do you think she might be overtired or undertired?

Her naps are pretty good. 30-45min in the morning, 1-3 hrs in the early afternoon, and often (but not always) a cat nap in the early evening. It's nighttime that everything breaks down. I don't feel like she's under- or overtired.

  • Thank goodness we're not the only ones. Maybe it's a six month thing? My dd already has four teeth and the teething was uneventful. She takes two 2 hr naps and one 1/2 hr nap, although it's becoming difficult to put her down for these (I lay down with her for these). At night she generally goes down easily in her bed for the first stretch but not as easily after subsequent wakings.

  • Oh boy -- We're going through the same exact thing. Its very frustrating and, like you all, I'm hoping its temporary. We had made some really good progress getting my little guy to sleep in his crib and wake up only a couple times at night. Now, I feel like we're back to square one with him waking up at least 6 times per night. He's back to our bed so that we can get at least SOME sleep. I'll wait it out for a few more nights (this is night 3 of the insanity) to see if its a WW or teething.
  • Hang in there ladies I had the same thing 4 nights in a row but yesterday night he woke up just once!!! :D I am so happy I think the wW is over. Plus he is teething.
