Sweet but overly involved co-worker vent (long)

Only a few of my co-workers know that I’m pregnant right now, and 2 of them sit right next to me (in those wonderful low cubicles that leave you zero privacy. One of them means well and really is a sweetheart most of the time, but today I kinda want to throat punch her. My M/S for the last 2 weeks has been getting exponentially worse and today I haven’t been able to keep water down.  Food has been fine, other drinks are workable but water (even flavored water)= immediate puking.  So I grabbed a can of Canada Dry hoping to help with the nausea and to just have something to drink. When I popped the top her head did this exorcist style full swivel to stare at me and says (not quietly mind you) “what is that?!” like I’m a toddler that needs constant supervision.  Like I said she’s really sweet and she means well so I didn’t want to be snarky back but argh it’s getting frustrating. I did just kinda smile at her and say “Yes Mommy” jokingly, when she informed me that soda has too much sugar. No real point to this other than a vent, so thanks for listening!

  • My OB told me how to deal with people like that, just say, "My doctor said it's ok." and usually they leave you alone.

  • I'd raise my eyebrows and keep drinking. And then burp loudly.

In reality, I'd probably tell her that its fine to have sugar during pregnancy and ginger ale is encouraged by doctors to help with nausea. Maybe she'll start bringing you ginger ale? ;)

  • Aw, I bet that would be super annoying.

My friend/ coworker keeps asking me if I am talking to my baby yet.. I keep telling her no. She said that I really need to that way the baby knows that it is welcome.

My body, my baby... I think it's weird to talk to baby this early. I don't know why.. maybe because I would feel like I am just talking to my fat roll, lol. I will do it later when I am farther along.. probably when I start to feel baby kick.

  • My former assistant used to comment on EVERYTHING I ate or drank. I had maybe 3 diet cokes in my entire first pregnancy and she seriously had a radar for those times and would come running over 'um um um um...I don't really think you are allowed to drink that!!' um um um get the f out of my face! She also, at one point asked me to lift up my shirt so she could see my belly..I was prob 4 months pregnant with my 1st so there was nothing showing at all yet. I just stared at her, then pointed at the door and returned to work.
  • My boss is overly concerned about the fact that I continue to go to the gym - even though most days that I make it are very short, very lazy workouts at the moment.  I think it is cute though :)

At the place I go to (group exercises or weight training only), they had a woman take a class on her due date. And then came in again the day after. The trainer told me he was okay with her being there on her due date, but then when she came in again the day after, he started to get a little nervous. :)
At the Bar Method studio I go to, there was a woman there who could seriously do way more on her toes push-ups at 9 months pregnant than I could at the time without even being pregnant. I was all "No problem, I'm going to be just like this woman when I'm pregnant!" -- then I actually got pregnant. I've made it to class twice in the past two months. :\">

  • Ugh I have a coworker like that who know EVERYTHING about being pregnant and raising kids. She has two. When I even mention I'm going to try to do _______ she says "just you wait... " and then tells me what will work better. Throat punchers unite!!!!

I felt weird about talking to my baby my entire pregnancy. I don't know why exactly I just feel like I'm talking to thin air. She still knew my voice by hearing me talk to others and occassionally I'd say a few things to her.

Oh there is nothing I hate more than just you wait! Its the worst possible thing to say to a pregnant woman!
