Ultrasound yesterday, due date pushed back a week - has this happened to anyone else?

So, I had my first ultrasound yesterday and was so excited to hear baby's heartbeat! What an amazing sound. Based on my LMP and also knowing the date of conception (the only times we had sex were at 14 and 15 days past LMP), I believed I was at 7w 1d. When she measured baby, doc says only 6w. She did not seem concerned about the difference and said I could have ovulated late. Has this happened to anyone else? When I came home and thought about it, I started freaking out a bit - a one week difference seems like a big deal. Is it? I am going back in two weeks for a recheck, just to make sure we have a good sense of the size. Someone, please calm me down!

Yep, normal. Sperm can actually live for about 5 days. My due date got pushed back 10 days.

I know exactly when I ovulated (okay, within about 36 hours) and my date still moved by a few days. Also, the doctor took several measurements and based on the angle of the baby was getting anything from 7w4d to 8w4d (so she went with 8w4d, when based on ovulation I thought I was 8w2d). So while it's really accurate, there are a few days of variation in how they do the measurements.

If your doctor isn't concerned then you shouldn't be either :-) Did you see a heartbeat?

It's totally normal, it just means you ovulated earlier in your cycle than you thought. Don't worry.

Thanks, everyone. What worried me was that it was a one week difference. I know I shouldn't worry and I did see/hear the heartbeat - it's just nice to know that it's happened to others of you as well. It makes me feel more "normal." This is my very first pregnancy, so I'm still new at all of this! I'm just going to continue to pray that baby is growing and will look forward to my next picture in two weeks.

Mine was pushed back about a week.!they found the heartbeat so I wasn't worried

Nothing is going to be 100%. Your cycle could've been off this month and you could've ovulated late like the dr said. PP poster mentioned sperm can live for up to 5-6 days. Also, you saw/heard baby's hb so that's what is important. Its size will fluctuate your entire pregnancy....it may never be on the exact week/day you are. You may go in a few weeks and it could measure ahead.

This happened to me during my first pregnancy. I figure sperm can hang out for a few days before it meets egg and then the egg can take a couple of day to implant.

Well it happened to me yesterday... I thought I was 6w and 4d but when I went for US we could only see a sac which measures 5weeeks (somewhere between 5 and 6 weeks) so I'll have to comeback in 2weeks. I read tons of blogs and learned that it happens often. No worries, enjoy the good news of the HB!

i thought i was 8w4d when i went in for my appt and baby was measuring anywhere from 7w4d to 8w0d she wasnt concerned so neither am i

Mine was pushed back 3 weeks at my first U/S! I thought I was 10 weeks and I was only 7. It sucks but it happens! At least we have healthy peanuts

Yep. Thought I was due march 24, u/s showed I wasn't as far as I thought so my due date changed to 4/2.

This is normal, docs tend to go off your lmp bit if I use myself as an example I actually o'd on CD20 not CD14 as they assume. So when I go in they will tell me I'm about a week behind or so.

Yeah my EDD got pushed back too. Mine was pushed back by 6 days based on the US. It is not really cause for concern though.

Mine was also pushed back by over a week. My EDD was originally calculated by my last period, which I figured wasn't accurate since I usually have longer cycles/later ovulation. Went last week and an u/s proved me right!
