Sub chorionic bleeding

Had my first appt and had an ultrasound. Good thing because they found a subchorionic hematoma about 1 cm thick. Anyone else have this condition? They said it usually resolves itself but there is nothing they can do if it continues to grow (and will separate the placenta from the uterine wall causing a MC). They told me to take it easy - no exercise, no sex (sorry honey!). Have another ultrasound in 10 days. Can't help but be a little worried

Re: Sub chorionic bleeding

  • Hi there! I have this too. I'm not sure on the size. I had a huge bleed at 6 weeks on vacation. Went to the ER thinking the worst. We saw a heart beat! It was wonderful since we lost the last one at 7.5 weeks and never saw a heartbeat. I'm 9w4d and still spotting on and off brown, which my docs all say is normal. It may be, but its so distressing. Every day for me is a battle of "I hope this is normal!". Best wishes to you!

  • I have one too. Mine grew from 1.6vm to 5.5cm between my 6w and 8w ultrasound. In the research I did, I read a lot of stories about women whose SCHs grew bigger before they dissipated, but never proved to be harmful to the baby or placenta. I hope that's the case for us too!

I can really tell when I overdo it. I've been taking naps most days and going to bed much earlier. No sex or stimulation of any kind, no heavy lifting or pushing, and only light housework. The bending over (cleaning up toys or loading dishwasher) is what gets me the crampiest, and I have to lie down right afterward.
  • I have one. I don't even have a follow up ultrasound right now. I was told to take it easy and call if I have period-like bleeding. Hopefully it resolves itself. There are several of us here that have it.

  • Do you have pain in one side, back and hip pain with it? Brown spotting?

  • @Heidiman I had some brown spotting about 10 days ago but none since then. No pain or cramping, just taking it easy and staying positive!

  • I have one. It is small...doc didn't give me any size, and it hasn't grown. He isn't worried about it, so I am trying to remain calm. I had some bleeding earlier this week, but baby still has a hb, and everything still seems fine
  • I have 1 that is 2.1x1x1 which is very small. They found it at my 9 w ultrasound this week. Said it she resolve on own and didn't even set up a repeat ultrasound because it was small. I am on restrictions---no heavy lifting and pelvic rest.
