Soliciting addresses on facebook

Every time I see something tacky, I automatically think of this board and I just have to run over and tell you...

Here's a post from a facebook friend...

"I'm having a baby shower Saturday the 20th at 10 a.m. Message me ur address if you want to come."

Then, today there's another post...

"Still need addresses for my baby shower if ur coming."

Poor thing!

    I really dislike it when someone sends me a group msg on fb asking for addresses, too.  I'm okay with giving my friend my address, but I don't really care to share it with 15 other people I don't even know in the same group message.

    Yikes!  

    I mean it's one thing if you are asking a specific person for their address we have certainly done that for Christmas cards and what not, but a mass posting!

    I don't mind the group messages, but this is blasted on her page for everyone to see!

    My sister's SIL set up a Facebook event titled, "Addresses Needed!" and invited half of the continent. Disregarding the tackiness, I sent mine to her in a PM and we chit chatted about pregnancy for a bit. And then I never got an invitation. And then I ran into her at the store the day before her shower and she made all sorts of small talk about it, assuming I'd be there. Awkward.

    I agree! I have asked people for their address on facebook for multiple reasons; however, if I am asking more than one person I always send each person their own message.  There is no reason why people need to see everyone else's address or personal information. 

    And OP... the whole, "send me your address if you want to come" - seriously, I would just love to invite myself to your shower where I have to spend money on a gift and sit around with a bunch of women I don't know all afternoon. Not!!!!
