The baking soda test!?

A couple of weeks ago a friend told me about the baking soda gender test. Pretty much pee in a cup, dump a tbsp of baking soda in, and if it fizzes BOY if no fizz GIRL!

I did it and it instantly started fizzing(BOY)!! I had another friend of mine that already knows her gender (girl) do it and sure enough, no fizz GIRL!

I find out gender in about 3 weeks and just thought it would be interesting to see how accurate it is. All of these old wives tales are really fun, even if they are crazy!

I did this test and it told me Girl... did the Intellagender test and it said Boy... so TBH I have not clue which one to believe... LOL

I have never ever heard of this test! I really wonder what in your urine would cause it to either fizz or not, that would be related to the sex of the baby.
I am sure that it is entertaining and since I know I have baking soda I'll probably try lol.

My friend did the intellagender and it said girl, she had a boy. Aren't they like $30?

Who knows it if works, but since it's "free" pretty much and painless, I think I'll try this for fun. I had my blood drawn for the Panorama test today so I'll find out if it the baking soda thing was right in two weeks.

Ha! I'll give this a try once I get off work!
I also had a friend who did the Intelligender test hoping her 4th baby was a girl-which it said it was and she ended up having her 4th boy!

I did this and it didn't fizz. A friend of mine also didn't fizz but its a boy so I don't trust it at all.

It's the PH (acidity) of your pee that makes it fizz not fizz I believe. PS: the fizz is carbon dioxide...

Mine fizzed, which would mean 'boy'. We shall see. I enjoy these OWT. The Chinese gender chart on here says 'girl'. Hmm.. You team green mamas are so patient, I can't even imagine!

The Chinese gender chart has been wrong for my first two children! I'm going to have a 4d ultrasound at 30 weeks and check the gender then.

Mine totally fizzed. And the Chinese birth chart says boy. But I think it's a girl. My pregnancy isn't much different then it was with my DD. So I made my mom take the test too lol. Just to see if hers would fizz too. And it did nothing so maybe this test is on to something

SUPPOSEDLY your body chemistry is different carrying a different gender and the hormones in your body are what cause the "fizz" (ph difference). I never thought about being dehydrated...I'm still interested to see how many of ours were right in a few weeks!

Mine said girl, my ovulation timing says girl, my Chinese Chart says boy (it was right with my DD). So I guess well see in a few months.

Yes, it tests the ph of your pee. This can easily be changed with diet and vitamins and as you said how hydrated a person was. Basically there is a 50% chance of it being correct.

I did it last time and it fizzed away (boy) and I delivered a baby girl.

I think the OWT are fun, even though I don't put much stake in them. With DD I did this (along with a gagillion others) and it was correct. I'm Team Green this time and I'm going to have to spread out the OWT to make it through the next 6mo.

We did it for fun this weekend after I read this thread. No fizz. So far all OWT say girl. I must be having a boy! haha we will see!

Mine didn't fizz, so girl. I didn't do this test with my first, but I did do the cabbage test (which I think tests the same thing) and it was correct the last time. I'll do the cabbage test this time, but I need to go get a cabbage!

It was right for my last son and it said girl this time! After 3 boys I can't help but to get my hopes up. The Chinese gender chart was right for all three boys and says girl this time. .. We'll see!

I'm trying this as soon as I can get to the store. I seriously think it's a boy but I would be happy with either. My next dr. visit is at 18 weeks and they said they wouldn't do an ultrasound that visit! My group makes you wait until you are at least 21 weeks along - it's killing me!

The BS test said girl for us and turns out that is what we're having. Chinese Gender chart and the ring test also said girl.

I totally did too!!! My husband was outside mowing the yard and came in right as I was pouring baking soda in a cup of pee... pretty sure he thinks I've lost it now! Anyway, mine totally fizzed.
