We have 5 teams signed up for as of now, looking for more dads who want to play. Private message me your e-mail if you want in. League may shrink to only 8 teams if we can't find enough dads.
Don't worry, I am a newbie also so if you join we can learn together. If I am correct you pick your kicker first then your defense and your quarterback last.
The league we have is pretty much like this, everyone gets $200 "fantasy dollars" to spend on players. If you really want for example, Aaron Rodgers, you place bids on him (you can place multiple bids) ranging from $1 to as much as you want, keeping in mind you have a full roster to fill. At the end, you have a team full of players that you bought and you use their real life NFL stats from week to week to match up versus a fellow dad who has done the same. You hope your team outscores theirs. It is merely for fun... no real money involved, the league is free.
Fantasy football is very easy and fun. The only thing that is time consuming is the draft and you can auto draft if you don't have the time. Although it's the best part.
Basically it just makes the NFL more fun to watch. You draft position players based on league's set up. Usually it's
QB WR WR RB RB TE WR/RB DEF K
The better your player does stat wise (check league's scoring) the more points you get that game. You play weekly head to head against another dad. Usually it takes less than 10 minutes to set your line up on Sunday before the games start.
The more you put into it, the more you get out of it.
What you are likely doing is changing the default price, which if you can't attend, will alter how much you will max your bid out at. All live bidding is done, like Sandy said, during the draft.
Pretty much. This way, every person has a shot at every player and it isn't determined by an arbitrary draft position... it is just how much you are willing to spend on whom and where you are willing to sacrifice.
The way it is set up, you can spend all of your money and leave holes in your roster. However, after the draft is complete, you can sift through the leftovers and pick up players to fill your roster out. However, the quality of the players left may not be the best at some positions. You may wind up with a 2nd string running back or a 2nd or 3rd receiver on a team with a bad quarterback (see Jacksonville). Best strategy is to budget and balance.
Heck yeah he was. The combo of speed, agility and with just enough power to break tackles, he was a beast in the open field. Him, Bo Jackson and Christian Okoye.
We now have 8... I set the league up for 12, but if we don't see anyone else sign up between now and then, I'll just reduce the league size to 8 to get our draft in.

Option B would be to recruit ladies who like beer, boobs and bacon?
-My son was born in April 2012. He pretty much rules.
I'm down with reducing the teams to 8 so we have have the draft earlier. I don't know if I'm gonna get anyone I want cause I don't know what I'm doing but I can still try. What time is the draft?? Sept 3rd at??
If there are only 8 teams you will be able to get who you want on your team.
I'm assuming the 8 teams doesn't include me. If so I'll sit out this year. We won't have internet until Thursday. I could probably sign up Sunday if needed, but would be doing an auto draft.
You should join Polooo. I'm sure we can get one more or convince @jack19 to join by then. I have to auto draft too.
Apbloye, the auction draft is live, so you can start your bid at $1 and bid as the price goes up. Unless you don't attend the draft, then it'll only go as high as your limit... but it won't jump immediately to it.
@Wulfgar If that happens you can just delete everything from the message box and click 'Save Draft.' It will get rid of it. Happened to me yesterday and thats what worked for me.
Someone puts Tim Tebow up for auction and the auction starts for $1.
If you go in before hand and set up the max value for $25.
As the bids go in for Tim, the computer will automatically bid for you, I believe in $1 increments, up to your $25 max. If the bidding stops at $11, you get him for $11, it does not automatically jump you up to your max to purchase him, nor does it automatically jump you to the max bid to where say I bid $3 and then the computer jumps the bid to $25.
So essentially, in the past auction drafts I've been in, the computer tries to save you as much money as it can, but will follow your max bid guidelines, so if someone bids $25 on Tebow first, you lose out on him. If you participate in the live auction, you enter your own bids as it goes along and the default settings you put in are essentially negated.

It's probably just a user error.
Would you mind telling me what my log in is under?
But what you want to try to do is budget and balance. Or at least that's what I'm going to try to do.

This is hypothetical.
