Bible, gay marriage related, rational people need not enter

I've never been on/lurked a board where people actually come out as against gay marriage. So, please indulge me. If you are against gay marriage because the Bible tells you to be against it, how to you reconcile this with the fact that many arguments for segregation were rooted in the Bible too? Did those people misinterpret the Bible? Was segregation actually morally right? Or were racists just full of crap and actually the Bible really tells us to treat people with love and tolerance like Jesus himself did?     there are times that I wish the bible had been against heterosexuality instead....wouldn't that be awesome for everyone that just can't help being straight?

    I'm pro gun and pro gay marriage.  Actually, I think the government should get their noses out of everyone's marriage entirely.

    But I don't carry a gun in my diaper bag, so does that count?

    Ahhh the old using the Bible to defend my position on gay marriage bit kills me. Funny thing is many of those people are divorced! And the Bible takes a much stronger stance on divorce than it does gay marriage. I am a Christian, but don't really believe in the accuracy of the Bible. It was written by men. Men are fallible. So chances are there is a lot that isn't correct.
    i wish i could be joking but my dad is the music teacher at a church so he owuld be mad. we had sex, all the time how bad i know but we dont want to wait and he said GREAT OH KAY! and I was really feeling the wets? down there- too embarsed to say- but he acted like man.

    I simply don't understand why everyone cares so much about this debate.  Whether or not a person is gay or straight doesn't really affect me.  As long as both people love each other and treat each other well then that's all that matters to me.

    I care a lot because I care about all human rights issues.

    It makes me made that our country, and many others, are so close minded and backwards and have been denying people the right to marry.
