I need to think about this, but I want to jump up and down and then hug you for not mentioning the same old names from the name old books (Catcher in the Rye, To Kill a Mockingbird, Little Women, for example). Yours are different and interesting. Gone With the Wind was so amazing and you didn't even go for Scarlett - you went for other characters. Love it. (And you siggy picture, by the way! And your daughter's name!!!)
Since I'm now thinking about Gone With the Wind, I've always loved India.
Thank you very much! I can't belive I forgot India! That is definitely a favorite as well
Lost Lilah (Audra's twin) at 26 weeks. Cause unknown. Forever in our hearts
I have a million! But here is my starting point: Anne of Green Gables: Anne, Cordelia The Paris Wife: Hadley Jane Eyre: Jane Pride and Prejudice: Elizabeth Great Expectations: Pip (no I would never use it, but love Pip!) Mansfield Park: Fanny Gone With the Wind: Rhett, Scarlett
And I love various mythological names too--Freya, Oenone (both of those are also names in a favorite sci fi series of mine) and Andromache. Hera is a lovely name but not a very inspiring goddess. And for the Irish ones, Fionnuala, Aoife and Deirdre. All those seem to be girl names, but I also love Arthur and Emrys from Arthurian legend. And I think Agravaine is just a really cool name too, also from Arthurian tales.
There are also a ton of names I love in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, with my favorite being Jorah, which is an actual Hebrew name meaning "early rain" and sounds very nice to boot.
Daegus & Drustan - Kiss of the Highlander/Dark Highlander
I also love the lesser known god/goddess names of Greek & Norse mythology. Some of my favs that have been used as character names in other books are Sjofin (Norse) and Circe (Greek).
I absolutely love the name Ginevra, NN Ginny (From Harry Potter) and it's strange because it's not my usual style of name at all, but there's no way I could get DH to go for it.
Gone with the Wind- India, Melanie HP- Hermione, Luna, Fleur, Harry, George P&P- Jane, Darcy (I like it as a fn) Bridget Jones- Bridget Beauty- Honor, Mercy Mermaid- Margrethe Twilight- Rosalie, Esme, Edward Ballet Shoes- Posy, Pauline, Clara The Little House Books- Caroline

I love the names in GWTW! This baby will be Scarlett; besides that obvious name from the book (and Rhett; I love Rhett), I like Beauregard, Melanie, Bonnie Blue, India...I remember liking more but I haven't read it since middle school. I also like Sonya from Crime and Punishment; Mick from The Heart is a Lonely Hunter; Holden and Atticus; Carmella from The Godfather; Cyrus and Alice from East of Eden.
I go to a lot of theater, so I have a lot of Shakespeare names that I like: Celia, Viola, Rosalind, Juliet, Bianca, Portia and my favorite that I will never use bc it's a little too weird Perdita.
My number 1 name right now for this baby is Isobel which I found in The Night Circus.
Elizabeth, Jane, Charles, Katherine, Lydia, Caroline - Pride and Prejudice
Edmund, Lucy - Narnia
Lyra - The Golden Compass
Hazel, Augustus - The Fault in our Stars
I totally thought of Faraday, but could never inflict that name on a daughter after what the character went through.
Right! Faraday is one of my favorite names of all time, but Sara Douglass just tore her character apart and I could never use it on a real child now either. I've never been so angry at a fictional character as I was at Axis during Enchanter... I don't think I even finished the series because I was so furious about what happened to Faraday.
The Secret Garden - Mary
HP - Remus
Twilight - Emmett, Esme
The Murders in the Rue de Morgue - Auguste
Hanna's Daughters - Anna, Hanna, Johanna
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - Kalle, Gunnar
Outlander: Clare (if my cousin doesn't use it, it's on my list) Audrey, Wait!: Audrey HG: Rue, Katniss (not my style but I love the names) TTW: Henry, Alba
I'm sure there are more, but I'm blank right now!
Married 2005, DS: 2006, DD: 2008 EDD: 4/16/14- IT'S A GIRL! Scarlett Jean
We actually heard DS2's name for the first time in a Michael Crichton novel. It was spelled Marek in Timeline (and actually may have been his last name now that I think of it), but we went with the English spelling
I also love Eowyn from LOTR :-S but I'd never actually use it :P
Elizabeth, Jane, Charles, Katherine, Lydia, Caroline - Pride and Prejudice
Edmund, Lucy - Narnia
Lyra - The Golden Compass
Hazel, Augustus - The Fault in our Stars

Lol at being angry at Axis, he never stops being a duche! And yeah, things never really get any better for Faraday as the series goes on.
I really love a lot of Tolkien "names"- Arwen, Eowyn, Elessar, Feanor, Lorien, Lalaith Luthien, Theoden
Sometimes I think about sneaking in a secret GP middle name on a birth certificate. No one has to know... :P
I'm planning to use Arwen as a first name for this dd. Had we picked a more "normal" first name, I wanted to use Hermione as a middle name. I'm all about guilty pleasure literary names.
Just had to reply to OP....our baby girl will be Emmeline; one of my husband's ancestors, Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote uncle toms cabin so this was a great choice for us. :-)
