After being really sick with morning (all day) sickness for weeks, I'm finally getting back to it. I ran 3 miles last night and it felt so good to be moving. Anyone else take a break? Getting back into it?
I've been trying to get in a 4 mile run at least 3 times a week. Luckily I didn't have any MS, so I've been able to keep it up for the most part this summer. I'm a kindergarten teacher & I'm hoping that I won't be too exhausted to get my runs in when school starts next week!
That gives me hope! I have been trying to get back into running - ill do a three to five mile run one night and feel awesome and then find myself so sapped the next day, I cant even think of running. I was told I could run throughout the pregnancy - but I'm starting to think I should cross train with swimming and more biking to mitigate the exhaustion that i seem to get from running. I just want the high from exercise again....
Whatever the exercise is, running/walking/swimming/aerobics class, I'm proud of all of us who give it a go (once the morning sickness lets you)!
@christinebowles, are you going your usual speed when you run? I felt pretty good after 3 miles yesterday, but I went soooo slow. I think that might have helped. But I've heard swimming feels great when you're pregnant, so I hope you can find a good place to go!
@lillybelle30, my doctor told me exercise would help my MS, but I was just like you until about 2 weeks ago. I'd try, and I just couldn't do it.
I'm 12 weeks tomorrow, and I'm so grateful for the fact that my morning sickness seems to be passing!!
i'm finally getting back into a regular schedule after about 5 weeks of on and off exercise alternating with intense couch time.
I am going slower than usual and have cut back to about 5 miles from 6. It's frustrating that i can't go as fast - especially when some flappy, hairy, douche-canoe in too much technical gear cuts in front of me like it's some kind of achievement. makes me want to yell that i'm pregnant and he shouldn't pat himself on the back, but i know that's just the irrational hormones talking...grrr.
I haven't run in weeks, and it's making me crazy. I've been trying to at least walk or do a gym visit here and there, but the tiredness and all day nausea are tough to overcome. I'm glad to hear some of you are getting back into it. I was worried that by the time I felt better it would be too late to try to start back up, but you guys are giving me hope! I'm due March 30, so I'm a couple weeks behind a lot of you.
I am jealous of you who are running! But happy for you. I am not running by choice, just walking. I am a litke paranoid so am sitting out until after the baby. So please run for me! I am itching to compete in my next race (which I have set for December of 2014- a marathon in my hometown). I can't wait to get out there and start training again... I feel like a piece of me is lost!
@ coreyeliz: my time is definitely slower - my doctor told me that I should be able to keep a pace that I can run and talk at the same time. I have made my peace with the slower pace
I just tried to run a 5K last Saturday and physically couldn't do it. I made it a half mile and could not catch my breath. My feet felt like bricks and I was just struggling. I have ran 4 5k's in the last 6 months with no problem at all. I felt completely defeated and walked the remaining 2.5 miles. I am done running until after baby - walking will have to do.
I had to lay off of the running, I try to walk as often as possible. I used to run4 miles 5-6 times a week, I have a hell of a time just walking 3 miles a couple of times a week

Same here! Except, I am not sure if I could ever do a marathon!
I had intended on starting marathon training again in may - I got the flu and then found out I was pregnant. I've had ZERO energy and I've been a total couch potato (aside from walking) since then. I'm scared that starting now is a horrible idea. I feel huge though And miss running. A student of mines mom was asking me if I'm running the marathon again this year and I said no- and she immediately guessed that I'm pregnant. So much for that secret! People know me too well.
My doctor doesn't want my heart rate to go over 130 during exercise so I am walking these days, but it doesn't really feel like exercise? I miss my runs. She also said no weights over 10 lbs which I not much......did anyone get similar directions from their obgyn?
I'm starting to run again. I use to run 5 miles twice a week with a long run on the weekend. Now I'm shooting for 3 miles 3 times a week. I did have to take some time off due to exhaustion where my goal was to run once a week. I'm also running way slower but I'm coming to terms with it.
