April 2014 Moms

Two babies went down to one....

Went to my second ultrasound after the last time where he found 2 sacs. I guess the other one didn't keep growing. Bummed out, but relieved at the same time. Two babies would have been hard!! On a lighter note our baby in there is growing healthy!!

  • I'm so sorry for you're loss Hun. I work as a nurse in an obgyn office and we see this pretty often it's called a vanishing twin. But think on the bright side you have 1 healthy little baby :-)
  • Sorry for the loss. Hope the rest of your pregnancy is great!

  • I am so sorry for your loss, but definite props for the positivity! :)
  • Aw, I'm sorry but also YAY for a healthy baby!

The same thing happened to us my first pregnancy, 2 heartbeats at 8w and then at the 12w ultrasound one had just stopped at around 9w. It was an odd day of mixed emotions, so I understand a little how you might be feeling. My DH and I called it "re-griefling" grieving over the loss of what could have been, while also (shamefully) slightly relieved to not juggle 2 babies at once. Hang in there and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!

  • I'm sorry for your loss.

This happened to my mother as well when she was pregnant with me.  It's weird to think I could have had a twin.

I've heard this is pretty normal during the first trimester.  Sometimes the one baby just takes over and the other one isn't strong enough to compete.
