No. If they had that kind if control over their behavior they would have never started it in the first place. I think I am pissed off for your situation.
If the school is trying to sell you this theory, kindly ask them to point out the other children who have acted in this way. I guess they were 'cured' by a lack of attention????
The guideline we were told to use by our ABA provider is to ask whether or not the behavior would continue uninterrupted for twenty minutes if alone in the room. If yes, it's sensory and harder to address. Otherwise? It's attention seeking and should be dealt with as such.
