But I feel like the UO thread every week serves no purpose other than to stir up trouble. I think I'm at the point of completely ignoring that thread and not opening it up at all.... I just feel like there's always so much unnecessary hate on Thursdays.... Anyone else want to start a different every- Thursday post? Ideas?

I liked UO threads when I was on TTGP. I'm participating in today's a little. I'm kind-of hoping ours will get a bit less insane once everyone who is taking it too far realizes they aren't flame-free and that there is such a thing as reasonable, spirited debate.

I tend to read it and will partake in the light uo but I never get in the full on the battle.
Plus being in Canada I feel like maybe our opinions aren't as strong as others...

My #1 is any nature documentary narrated by a British guy. Preferably David Attenborough. I love him, but he just lulls me right to sleep every time.

I read 'em. Helps to weed out the nut bags. Judging by the vibe of my other bmb, several months from now, after we all know eachother better and the weirdos have been run off, they'll be less dramatic and more like a good debate. Snarky? Heated? Passionate? Yes to all three, but it won't be like today's mess.

I finished the season of Orange ITNB. What else was I going to do for entertainment? I found the thread nearly as entertaining. How does it weed out the crazies. Can't they just rejoin under a new name?

I also live in Ontario where those hot topics are hardly ever discussed anymore.

I dislike virgin drinks. What's the point.

They can but most aren't smart enough to not conceal the crazy and it will come out again and usually everyone will recognize it.

I don't participate in those threads because I'm boring and my opinions are not unpopular, but I like to read them for entertainment value. I'd go crazy only reading/talking about pregnancy and babies.

I like the idea of the UO but it takes on a life of its own and people get out of control. I am not a fan of all the snark, although I've learned that's just the culture.

It's cool not to read the UO, and it's cool to start a new drama free thread on Thursdays, but like previous posters said, most people get into them for the political debates and for the drama...I was smack dab in the center of the one yesterday and thought it was super interesting to see how people responded and reacted to a very sensitive topic...

There can be really great conversations that happen once we get a better handle on the board dynamic and feel people out a bit more.

FWIW (for what it's worth) - that was a pretty intense UO yesterday, they aren't always like that and don't always end up like that.
