Mommy Brain Moments

Please tell new that I am not the only one....

So I accidentally added fabric softener to a couple of my cloth diaper inserts. I finally decided to strip a bunch of inserts today, the them in, added my Dawn, did a wash cycle and a rinse cycle... Only to realize I that I forgot to add the inserts with the fabric softener. *facepalm

Re: Mommy Brain Moments

  • Oh, you are not the only one!  Since I'm having a "terrible, horrible, no good very bad day" and could use a laugh, I'll kick this off.  Let's see ...

For laundry, I recently put all the clothes in, put in the liquid detergent and softener, and then took my scoop of Oxyclean and instead of putting it in the washing machine, dumped it straight onto the floor.

While pregnant, I took a scoop of coffee and put it in the dishwasher instead of dishwasher detergent.  I had to vacuum out my dishwasher.

For my first major outing with DS, I was going to meet a colleague for lunch.  I got DS all packed up, pumped a bottle, put the stroller in the car, and, big for the time, got myself dressed up (make up, shower, clean clothes) ... it took my whole morning.  Got to the restaurant and DS was napping soundly in his carseat and I was like, YES, SUCCESS! ... until I texted my colleague and realized I was a week early for our lunch date.

So mommy brain, yeah, I've got it.  You're not alone!

  • Yesterday I had to drive to a local college to renew my background check required for my job. I got lost on my way there with DS wailing in the back seat. This wouldn't be so bad except I graduated from this school two years ago!!! Like, I went to this campus every single day. :-/ I tried to take a short cut and somehow ended up somewhere I had never seen before!

  • Can men get daddy brain? More than once DH has gotten DD changed without putting a new diaper on her. He just buttoned the onsies and brought her downstairs.

DH did this the other day and couldn't figure out why E was in a puddle on t the floor. He said, "I know he drools, but that is excessive!"

  • I CD and use prefolds and cover. I swear at least once a day I find myself dressing LO without a cover on.
Also, last weekend I was at work after having 2 weeks off and not having to pump. I got all set up and situated, started pumping, then looked down......no bottles attached :( Wet shirt at work with adolescents = lots of questions.

I teach middle school and this was always my biggest fear. Not the place I want to go with 8th graders

I have done this with dirty diapers.  There is nothing worse than having to fish a still poopy diaper out of a now water-filled, still poopy bag.  *shutter.  Only time I hate cloth diapering.

  • OK I am dying laughing reading all of these! I can totally relate, I feel like I do dumb things and forget stuff all the time these days. It's really frustrating because I used to be so on top of my game... I'm trying to go easy on myself, though. Fortunately, DH and I own a music school and since all of our students' parents have been in my position before, they totally get it when I accidentally overcharge them, double book lessons, forget to schedule their child's make up lesson, etc. :) Babies are the best excuse ever.
  • Well between the time I was pregnant and now I have started my keurig machine FOUR times without putting a cup underneath it. Twice while pregnant and twice since then. It's always a huge mess to clean up, but most of the time I'm just upset that I wasted my coffee!
