hostile work environment

I work in what is considered a hostile work environment. I work for a cell phone provider in the cancellation department. I basically get screamed at all day long. Ever since I got pregnant I've had panic attacks and anxiety about going into work. Due to insurance being through them I cannot quit. How will I get through 8 months of this?!

Re: hostile work environment

  • So sorry you're going through this. I had a brief stint as a telemarketer, so I completely feel where you're coming from. It was a horrible job where people have no respect for you and don't usually think of you as a person. @toothpastechica has some good advice though. I would second trying to distance yourself from the voice on the other end and let it float past you. I hope your stress can start decreasing soon.

  • On my 2nd pregnancy I worked on a very hostile team environment ( I was the new boss, younger than them, got pregnant after only 2 motnths = they didn't like me and tried to get me fired). God only knows what I went through (demoted during maternity leave). What kept me going was focusing in the positive that the company was offering me - mainly a great paycheck, benefits and a maternity leave. I had work for this company for other 2 years after having my son. I left as a top performer with a great fat bonus. List (even if its just in your head) what are you and your family are getting out of this job and try to call it to mind when things get crazy. T&P! You can do it!
