@hmp1 - Carseat question

I didn't want to takeover LL's post anymore, since apparently I'm not up on all the LATCH carseat rules.

Over 65lbs for kid+carseat = use the seatbelt instead of LATCH.  So, dumb question, how do you know how much your carseat weighs?  I'm assuming I'll have to look it up online.

And do you know why?  Is the LATCH not strong enough at higher weight?  DS1 is about 32lbs right now too, but we're moving him from Radian to Graco Nautilus, so I am assuming I have a little time, but I will definitely have to look it up.

Re: @hmp1 - Carseat question

  • you can figure out how much the car seat weighs by going to the manufacturers' website to find the specs of the seat.

  • Amazon also has the product weights?

  • Good point @holly_1007 !  (I did say it was a dumb question...)

    @danabsd - Thanks! And, that was what I was thinking as well, but my concern was that Amazon isn't always 100% accurate when it comes to product info.

    I thought about that after I posted.  I would double check their info.  :)

    Sorry, I just saw this. The girls got you covered on the weight of the car seat. It is because of the unknown strength of the LATCH that they are making the standard limit for 65. It has been up to the car manufacturer in the past to put it in the manual what they tested their latch system at for the max weight. I think some manuals didn't contain this info though. It was just a hard thing for people to find and not well known that LATCH even had a weight limit.
