We had a friend that posted the legit first picture of the baby within probably 15 min of giving birth.... I'm talking blood, vernix, and all the other gooey stuff that comes out on that baby! Who the hell wants to see that!!! And my initial thought has I'm meeting my little angel for the first time will not be "I gotta check in on fb!"

with DD we posted the next day...after she officially had a name. I had no idea how crazy it made people to "wait" until later....weird!

I say never, although some friends has put pics up of her at parties and what not. My sister leaves her un-tagged, and some people will tag her as me. I'm okay with that, but have never posted any myself.

With my first, I think I posted to FB when he was a couple hours old (after getting acquainted and nursing the first time). That's how I let my friends and family know he had arrived and they could "see" him.

There were photos of my 1st on Facebook before I ever saw him, my family uploaded them while he was getting cleaned up and what not, I had to have surgery post delivery so it took 5 hours to see my DS, everyone in the tri county area had seen my child before I had.

Well right after dd was born, DH followed her to the nicu and I was lying there in the recovery room with my phone and had nothing better to do so I posted FB. My hope is next time I'll be so busy snuggling and breastfeeding I won't have a chance to post immediately.

We posted a few pictures a couple days later, after we were home. Family and close friends got a picture texted to them with stats and a name within a few hours of birth. We are not a FB-crazy family and didn't make a big official pregnancy announcement either though.

Hmmmmmm, trying to remember. I think we posted one of DD that same day, in the evening (my c/s was at noon). She was freshly bathed and clothed and extra squishy.

I had DD at 1:54 am. This was after 30 hours of labor and no sleep. DH and I went to bed pretty much right after she was born. We posted 1 FB photo technically that same day in the late afternoon.

It took a couple hours to get a cute enough pic, lol. That sounds horrible. She was the most beautiful baby in person but the pics were not coming out cute, I think because she was so swollen. I'll attach two pics, taken within two hours of each other, to show you what I mean.

My first pic of my son went up the next day. My sister posted it from her phone. I didn't have a great phone then but now that I have a better phone I can post to Facebook really easily. I will probably be able to post a pic of this one probably within the first day.

A friend of mine's husband posted pics up within minutes after the birth. You could see the mom's legs still wide open (probably getting stitched up) in the background! It was so gross! If I were her I would have been mortified! You just brought a kid into this world! Use that precious time to love on your new baby and all get acquainted as a new family. Facebook can wait. People are way too obsessed with social media these days and are missing out on special moments. Not everything has to be shared with the world, and most people don't even want to see that shit!! I don't want to see your baby covered in goop!! Post a pic a few hours later when they are all bundled up and cute!!

I went back and checked and I posted 27 hours after Kate was born. There was no anticipation because I was only 38w when she was born and no one but my DH and our close family even knew she had arrived!

Babies are a little rough when they come out, poor things

DH texted a picture to MIL who posted it on facebook immediately. I don't think I had finished delivering the placenta before it was up. I hadn't even had a chance to send the picture to my parents in Dubai and my Mom saw it on facebook and was really upset. I was angry that my MIL put it up there as well. This time around, I'm avoiding facebook. I don't know if I'll even officially "announce" anything on facebook. I will not be sending MIL a photo and I'll request that anyone who is sent a photo does not share it on facebook.

Right after birth there was a picture posted of me and someone commented about how bad I looked. They ended up deleting the comment but it was really rude. So now no pics of mommy lol.

We'll post a family photo as soon as we can all get cleaned up and take a nice one. Other than that, we don't want any photos of our kids on FB (or otherwise shared publicly) at all.

Pretty much this except I wasn't the one posting the pics. My XH was and I think he did it the next day. Either way, I'm still an AW.

DH posted a pic the day of DS's birth. He wasn't goey, but he wasn't cute either. I still remember my sister's comment

"Quick, someone get to the hospital and take a cute picture of that baby STAT"

Whenever I get around to it...likely sometime that day, unless delivery is at night, then it will be the next day. I don't care which of my family members post pics, my only request is that I get to post the first one.

I find it odd when people say they have never shared a photo of their LO to anyone or even mentioned a pregnancy and BAM there is a baby.

That's pretty much how it'll be when I have baby. I never log on to Facebook and the family that needs to see baby will see him in person or recieve a pic text. As much as I love Instagram I have no intentions of posting pics of my baby.

I changed my marital status during cocktail hour at our wedding, then went on DH's account and approved the change. So, I imagine I will be one of those "within the first hour" AWs. I was born without a shame gland.

I'm kind of anti putting up baby photos on facebook. There are so many privacy issues that it somehow just doesn't seem safe.

I guess I also think that my first thought will not be putting photos up on facebook. I've waited over a decade to have a baby, I want to savour the moment.

I put them up when they took DD to the nursery to bathe her. They don't do that anymore at my hospital. The baby stays with you now. I think I did it when I was waiting to be wheeled into my room w/ DS. It took me longer w/ him since he was w/ me the whole time.

Neither DH or I have a smart phone so it had to wait till we got home a few days after to upload pics from our camera to the computer. I guess we live in the stone age, but I'm ok with that. :P

I'm not too big on posting on facebook (I can't even remember the last time I made a post) but I'll probably be posting lots of baby pictures because all of my family lives on the other side of the country and I'd like to keep them updated easily. Also I'm extremely picky with who I accept as a friend so I'm not worried about anyone "stealing" my baby's pictures.

I've got a strict no-facebook rule for both my pregnancy and for the birth. If anyone posts a picture of my baby on the internet without my permission, they will be facing some serious wrath!
