So do you do like 5 oz formula and 1 oz cow's milk in a bottle? Or do you just change one of his bottles to all cow's milk for a few days and then change another one, etc.
We dropped the bottles cold turkey for sippy cups. That doesn't necessarily work for everyone, but my little guy does better when we're not switching back and forth between things. He'd already been using a sippy for water for a few months at that point, though, so he knew how to drink out of it. If your LO hasn't used a sippy before, I'd start offering it to him/her with each meal to get the hang of it. As for the transition from formula to milk, we started with 1/4 milk to 3/4 formula in the sippy and slowly adjusted over a couple weeks til it was all milk. Honestly the hardest part was getting him used to milk being cold whereas formula was warmed up. I'd warm up the milk just a touch to take the chill off or let it sit out for 5-10 min before giving it to him and he'd do much better. It probably took a good 2-3 months until the milk temperature wasn't an issue!
Wow I feel terrible. We went cold turkey from formula to milk and the same with bottle to a straw sippy. She never skipped a beat and it was like she didn't even care.
I don't think you are terrible at all! You must have a pretty easy going babe!
Re: Formula to Milk
I started off with 4 oz formula/1oz milk for a few days, then 3 oz formula/2oz milk, then 2 oz formula/3 oz milk, etc. until it was all milk.
