PSA: Daycare

I just wanted to throw this out there.... last week I had to bail on a girls night because I was feeling so sick, and my girlfriend totally guessed that I was pregnant.

Well, in the past (before getting pregnant) we've talked about us eventually using her daycare (I have four friends who have their children there and they all rave about it.. and it's budget friendly) So when she found out I was pregnant, she said.. you better call NOW!

Guess when the next opening is... OCTOBER 2014! Insane!! So we toured the facility today at just 7 weeks pregnant and will probably put the deposit down next week.

I know it varies per city, but I just wanted to put this PSA out there.. if you have a place in mind, you may want to call now!

(and they will refund our deposit if heaven forbid something happens to this pregnancy)

    I've heard of people putting themselves on waiting lists while ttc. Thank god I don't live in one of those areas.

    Suburbs are usually much easier to find spots. Key word there is usually.

    Our preschool doesn't do waiting lists, but parents do camp out for spots. I showed up at 3 am the Monday after Super Bowl Sunday with my yoga mat and down comforter -- I was still 9th in line!

    That's exactly what DH and I were joking about..... for an October 2014 spot, the mom's wouldn't have even conceived yet!!!

    But it has to do with their waiting list of moms/babies who are already born and wanting to get in.

    oh yeah DS just got into our first choice day care...actually he's not in yet, but they did confirm they'll have an opening for us December 2. We got on the waitlist October 2012 - so actually I guess we're doing good!

    We should have gone sooner, but I didn't think about them at first b/c they don't accept kids until 18 months at this particular center.

    i've heard the same thing!  fortunately i was able to send him to a home daycare that my friend ran, so it was not an issue for us, but i hear it can be incredibly cutthroat out there when it comes to finding care for your kids.
