C-sections

Does it always end up like that...

I went into labor before my post-Thanksgiving scheduled csection. So when they admitted me they started me on pintocin pretty quickly, I assume to get the baby born as quickly as possible since it was the day before Thanksgiving and the doc had holiday plans......kinda jacked up I thought, haha. So I labored from 630am til around 6 and pushed for three hours before they decided I wasn't able to get the baby out on my own. So I find out at my post op appointment that LO was facing upward and they didn't realize this...however, I just figured I had a narrow pelvis and that's why I could not push baby out. Watched a Baby Story on tv one day, months after giving birth, and heard the dr on there say the baby was facing up and therefore could not pass the bones. So is that always the case, anyone know?

  • Oh, and not to mention LO was 8lbs 8 oz, so that's why I thought she was just too big for my petite frame

  • Yup that's what I've heard from the staff at the hospital I will be doing me C at tomorrow morning.

  • My first was sunny side up and I ended up with a c section, this time it was a planned RCS
  • I had a CS because I didn't progress at all for 10 hours , but it turned out DD was sunnyside up. The doctor said I could have tried to deliver naturally had I continued dilating, but it would have been very difficult. I believe exactly what he said was that it would be as if the baby was several pounds heavier than she actually was.

  • Baby A was sunny side up too and after 32 hours of labor and 2 hours of pushing the doctors didn't think he was going to pass.  They left the decision up to me, but they were leaning towards a C-section when they discussed my options.  The worst part was that the doctor tried turning him twice before the anesthesiologist realized that my epi was not inserted correctly and I could feel EVERYTHING.

  • Another sunny side upper here with my firstborn.

Got to 10cm, pushed for 3 hours, foreceps and trying to manually turn before his heart plummeted. I was rushed to the or. He got stuck and had battle wounds from the foreceps. My doc actually had to push him back up to deliver via section.

I had a RCS with my DD due to a complication during my first section. I have heard its less likely to have another ill positioned baby if you ever vbac.
  • My first was OP as well, I pushed for 4ish hours before ending up with a CS. He was 8 lbs 4 oz. I had a VBAC with my second (he was lined up properly). and he was just over 10.5 lbs. It meant a world of difference for me!

  • How was your vbac recovery nosoup4u? I would like to experience a regular delivery but am scared of the recovery. I had a pretty easy time after my cS, I only stayed in hospital one extra day and was up with not much pain. The first day home I took the meds prescribed and then cut back to only one pain pill for the next week. I guess I'm scared of tearing, sex after that does not sound appealing and going potty even worse nightmare!

I had a second-degree tear, but the recovery was a lot quicker than with my CS. The biggest difference was being able to move right after my vaginal birth - I was sore, but I could use my abs and get up and down fairly easily.

I still had to recover, but it wasn't nearly as intense or long as w surgery. I felt totally fine after about two weeks, it took me a full 5+ with the CS.

As someone who has had both a c/s and vaginal birth, vag was WAY easier to recover from. I was feeling back to normal within a few days and had no need for pain meds in recovery. With my c/s I'm 5wks PP and still not feeling "right" yet.

  • I have not heard that, both of my boys were OP. With DS1, the doc was able to turn him and I remember him saying that it's possible to deliver that way, but extremely painful. With DS2, I had a different doc and she was not able to turn him and i wasnt progressing which led to my c sec.
  • I delivered my DD sunny side up. She came very fast, and she came out in about 5 pushes. She did however break my tailbone :(

  • My son was sunny side up, I didn't even realize that I was lucky to bit end in a cs! No problems just lots of pain and a third degree tear. Had a cs this time and would much have preferred another sunny side upper!!
