Non-sucky bridal shower games?

I'm co-hosting my BFF's bridal shower in a month, and I'm in charge of games.  I hate games, which is why I think I was put in charge.

Anyone know any bridal shower (or bachelorette party, we're doing a combo thing) games that don't totally suck?  It will be probably around 10 women.

And please don't say "two truths and a lie."  I worked in a corporate setting long enough to hate that game.  :)

I really hate 99% of shower games.  One that I do enjoy is gift bingo.  Every guest is given a blank bingo card and they fill in the squares with things they think bride will receive as gifts.  As the bride opens her gifts, the guests cross of squares just like bingo and when they get a "bingo" they receive a prize.

ETA:  Nevermind...I just saw that there will only be 10 guests so it may not work.  Showers in my family tend to have 30-80 or so guests so it helps make our gift opening time less boring.

Right?  They always feel so contrived, especially when you don't know everyone at the party.

Oh, this sounds tolerable (and easy to organize).  Thanks!

  • I'm not a big game person either. However, at my bridal shower everyone was given two pieces of paper. The first page, they were to write a common annoyances, ie clothes outside hamper, doesn't put dishes away, etc. Then the second page write the solution. When everyone is done, then mix them up and read the first page with different solutions. It was hilarious and also helpful to hear some advice.

  • Skip games! Most showers I've been to don't have games and the few that do only a few people bother playing. I don't understand the desire to have games at an adult party.

  • Guess how many diapers. You put some loose diapers in a clear container and have them guess how many are in there.

put baby objects in a brown paper bag and seal it up. have people try and guess what is in each bag. tell them to write down their answer and pass it to the next person. Read off the answers and see who got the most correct

There are games in the baby shower section at most stores. they will have like baby scramble words.

    sorry, reading fail.

ask a series of questions to the husband to be and then ask her at the shower. kinda like a newlywed game type thing....

I have never done bridal shower games. it is more just social interaction

  • We did mad libs at my SIL's shower, so we made up a story with a marriage theme. Each guest gets a sheet of paper with blanks to fill in nouns, verbs, etc. Then they get the story with the blanks, fill in the blanks, and take turns reading out loud. It's pretty funny.

  • We played the newlywed game thing at mine.  They asked my DH questions beforehand and if I got the answer correct, I got to keep some gifts they had bought (little stuff, mostly kitchen things like tongs and veggie peelers, etc.)  If I got it wrong, someone else got the gift as a party gift.  It was fun.  I got most of them wrong.  My friends were horrified at some of the answers too though since we have all known each other since high school.  For example, my DH drinks probably five Mt. Dews per day (don't get me started) and when asked his favorite kind of pop...rootbeer. Dork. It was fun though.  One I went to, we all brought a pretty pair of undies or a nightgown for the bride and she had to guess which person bought them for her.  We did the write down advice about marriage at one too.

  • At my friend's shower (and another I'm currently planning) I did a game where I bought jars (big mason jars, though they don't have to be really big) and filled them with different kinds of candy.  In front of each one had a paper where everyone wrote their name and a guess of how many candies were in each jar.  Toward the end, I looked at the list and determined who was closest, and they won the jar of candy.

Everyone really enjoyed it!  I did 8 jars for my last friend's shower, and this time it's smaller so I am only doing 3.

  • How about having guests make a list of dates the couple should do in the first year?  It's a conversation starter at least if you're at tables with people you don't know.  We quizzed my friend (the bride) on basic household things like if a chicken can sit out to defrost or if it should be defrosted in the fridge, sink or microwave.  The older women got a big kick out of how wrong she was on many things.  It put all the attention on her and none of us looked stupid.
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!

  • I don't know if this would work and this isn't technically a game, but we put pictures of the bride and groom on popsicle sticks and asked her to act out how they met with the popsicle stick puppets.
