I didn't know I was pregnant show

So there is nothing on tv and I am watching I didn't know I was pregnant.

The girl on the episode doesn't know she is pregnant with her first child.. blah blah blah.. has the baby. then 2 years later she meets her BF and she gets pregnant AGAIN and has no idea. Finally she takes a pregnancy test, its positive, goes to the doc. The doc tells her she is 16 weeks apparently based on her "size" then her water breaks and omg she is full term! WTF how do you have no idea you are not pregnant twice.. and how does the doc not know how far you are.. that is one quack of a doc.

I just do not understand this show..

  • Ha!  I just watched this too.  I thought it was hilarious how she wasn't smart enough to know that she got pregnant the first time when she didn't take her BC pills properly, and then when she met the new BF didn't bother using BC of any kind and golly gee, she didn't think she would get pregnant.

  • My personal favorite is the woman (I think she was about 18-ish starting college) who had every pregnancy symptom in the book (nausea, vomiting, weight gain, swollen everything, pain), went into labor and THEN took a pregnancy test.

  • It's so weird. I have trouble believing the majority of stories. Often times I wonder if they just didn't have insurance and didn't want to look bad for not receiving medical care?

Totally off subject, but is your name Violet? It is our name of choice if this lo is a girl. If it is, do you love your name?

haha! Yes that is exactly what I was thinking too! Obviously you are able to get pregnant and I dont know why you would think just because your period ended that you are in the clear.. so stupid.

I have  not seen this one. But seriously.. you didn't even think to say hey im feeling all these symptoms and maybe I could be pregnant??

My name is not Violet, sadly its boring ole Stephanie lol. I would love my name if it was Violet though. I am hoping to talk DH into naming any future daughters we have Violet. :)

I can see not knowing for a few months tips if you have irregular periods. But leaky boobs and a growing bump? No, just no.

I think these women are in denial

  • Also - I feel like this whole pregnancy I have been stressing about oh am I taking good enough care of myself to make sure baby is okay and these women smoke, drink, eat like crap get no prenatal care and their babies come out perfectly healthy! WTF I know there are so many women who try so hard to take awesome care of themselves when they are pregnant and then the babies still come out with problems I think that is total crap.

( not that I am wishing any babies to have problems just because their mom's didn't know.)

  • I was working at a photography studio several years ago. A woman brought her daughter in for senior pics. She also had a freshman daughter. I was newer to the very small town, but our office manager was friends with the mom. So, when we were back in our offices I asked my coworker if she thought the woman's pregancy was planned or not, since her youngest was 14. Coworker laughed at me and called me crazy and said that the woman wasn't pregnant. I was really surprised, because it did NOT look like 1st tri bloat to me, it looked like she wa flirting with 3rd tri!

A few months later, coworker called me to tell me the news. The woman felt like she was going to have diarrhea, went to the bathroom and had a baby instead... Only thing 'wrong' with the baby was he had a club foot, but otherwise completely healthy!

The girl said she never gained any weight and that her normal everyday jeans fit her comfortably the entire time... must be nice!. I haven't fit comfortably into a pair of jeans for months!!

This is crazy! and I could not imagine going to the bathroom for what I thought was diarrhea and have a baby in the toilet instead.

A little off topic from the show, but my grandmother just cannot comprehend how myself or any of the other women in my family who have been pregnant have had to buy maternity clothes. She "just had to unbutton the top button on her jeans" and that was that. She also thinks stretch marks are mythical and women are crazy if they gain weight/bloat.
  • I'm watching the tail end of an episode right now! This woman ended up having two strokes and a heart attack so she came out of all that and was THEN told she had a baby. That would be insane.

I agree, most of them make absolutely no sense because they are just in denial. There is no way I wouldn't have known, it was almost an instant feeling of just knowing.
  • I have a hard time believing anyone could make it all the way through a pregnancy without knowing they were pregnant.  I figure that they really know, but are in denial.

  • However about 3 weeks after finding out I felt her little flutters and I went from not showing at all to gaining ten pounds within a month and showing like crazy. What made me take the pregnancy test was my mom telling me I was hormonal and asked if I was pregnant. The dr couldn't believe I was 20 weeks either with how I wasn't showing. He thought maybe 3 months.
I can understand that at 20 weeks you are still not showing..I just looked like i had been eating too much food at 20 weeks and not pregnant.. but they said she made it to 36 weeks I think without showing at all.. and then the commentary doc on the show said that everyone women carries differently and that she must have just been carrying more to the back of her uterus... im sorry but this girl was a tiny girl there is no way the baby was hiding in her back.

  • I think some of the stories are loaded with some sh@t but whatevs I watch it too when I'm bored bc for some strange reason I'm fascinated lol. I also watched I'm Having There Baby... Shows about adoption. It's so sad to watch these woman struggle with making the choice of giving there baby up. I find it hard not to tune in but also feel shocked that they agreed to document the experience on t.v. Now being preggers I can't imagine saying goodbye to my baby. It's so sad.
  • It's total denial.... They know on some level.... Cuz really... How do you not know? I have had a pretty easy pregnancy most of the time forgot I was pregnant, but there are some things that are just clearly red flags, that you are pregnant....

  • I remember watching an epsiode with DH around. I think it was just after I had found out I was pregnant, so I think he took more interest in it than he usually would. Anyway, the episode was about a professional volleyball player or something so whenever I can't do things, dh teases me and says "but she played volleyball her whole pregnancy!" He's only kidding though- he's overly cautious about what I can and can't do!

    We're one and done!
  • I saw the show once - now that I am pregnant, it is so hard to imagine someone not knowing at some point!
I admit I was in denial at first, but nothing crazy. I had months and months of feeling like I was pregnant, only to take pregnancy tests that came up negative time and time again . . . Finally, I decided not to stock up on tests anymore and just let the inevitable period be my indicator. When my period was late, AGAIN, and I was exhausted / had a heightened sense of smell / and food aversions AGAIN, I refused to take a test for a couple of weeks, because I just couldn't take having another negative test. My husband finally insisted I take a test and surprise! I was 6 weeks pregnant. (I know a lot of women struggle with getting pregnant and that my experience of "just taking a bit longer than I expected" is nothing compared to what they have had to go through, but it was still really bumming me out and I really wouldn't have taken that pregnancy test for a really long time if my husband didn't insist.)

Lol, she did catch on to what was happening before the baby actually came out, so she got off the toilet and grabbed a towel and caught the baby!

  • This show fucking annoys me. It's like fascinating, but then some of the shit they say is just like, really? I second the "how can you not know." I understand not really having symptoms, but I think these women are just maybe a little not tuned into their bodies. Once I got chronic UTIs last year I became very sensibly heightened to my body and what was going on with it all of the time. Maybe they just didn't really have a reason.
Then sometimes my LO is just rolling around in there and I'm like, how did these women not feel this.. I'm getting kicked in the ribs! Haha

Oh, and pretty much what @AFwifelife said.

I knew I was pregnant even though my periods have always been irregular. I know it sounds cliche and dumb but somehow I just knew.. Whenever we went to the store to get the test I think I was 4wks. And I kept seeing babies everywhere and I just kept thinking hmm... lol!

I just caught the tail-end of the one with the woman who had the heart attack and strokes, so I still haven't seen an episode. They don't come back on again until tomorrow morning, but I set the DVR for those two.

  • I've purposely avoided the show bc I thought it would be too frustrating to watch.  My coworker says that her mom didn't know she was pregnant with her until 7 months and it's always so hard to keep my mouth shut when she brings it up.  How could someone not know for THAT long??

No. This doesn't sound dumb or cliche or anything. I just knew, too, and I had four periods in two months. I knew WAY before it was even possible to take a test. My boobs were killing me, and they got huge. My mom said that it was probably my period, but that's definitely one symptom that I've never experienced ever. Definitely just knew. I then took three pregnancy tests. They were all negative. And then I took one almost a month later and it was positive (keeping in mind that my husband was in training and there was definitely no sex happening). So yeah. I get where you're coming from.

  • This lady at our church recently found out she is pregnant with TWINS and she's 6 months along.....like really how do you not know???? I find it hard to believe myself....
  • I'm facinated with this show but I'm pretty sure these women have to be either incredibly stupid or in denial. I know if it happened to me I would never admit that I was that stupid.
