Haha, only because I actually got my raise which I totally didn't think was going to happen, AND it's more than I thought, except if half of it is retro since it wasn't in the last check, that would suck.
I work at a law firm that is ridiculously disorganized. One of the partners, who I like to say wears the pants in that marriage, is basically the real boss and runs the office. She has a whole "oh if you have suggestions, please bring them to me" mantra, but in actuality what she really means is "keep your fucking mouth shut!". Ultimately, she's in charge and it's her way or the highway, and unfortunately she doesn't notice that a lot of people take the highway and the turn over rate here is a bit ridiculous. People are not happy, but it doesn't concern her much because she's making more $$$.
So a year ago on 8/1/12 I was promoted and she told me the raise was only $1000 a year, then when I actually got the raise it was $2500, so I wasn't complaining. I knew one of my friends who started around the same time as me, but works in a lower position than me got her raise of 5% at the 1 year mark, so I figured mine was coming at the 1 yr anniversary of my promotion, but it wasn't in my last check. (Actually my friend's wasn't there at her 1 yr anniversary and she had to say something, so I did the same when mine wasn't there) The boss kinda played it off like I wasn't supposed to get it blah blah blah, she'll talk to the accountant and see. Then I heard nothing else about it and I kinda messed up a couple things with cases so I figured she just gave me the shaft. But I guess not! Just checked my pay stub online and it's there. Friggin miracle!
ETA: I checked with the accountant and it was retro, so it's not as much as I thought, but I am still making more than I ever have!
