If I had a day off ...

What would you do if you had a day off, no work, no kids?

It's sad to say that right now, it would be errands for me. Probably with a day to shop for outfits for family photos. I feel constantly behind the eight ball with the amount of stuff I need to do vs what actually gets done.

Re: If I had a day off ...

  • I'm in the same boat.  I actually did take a Friday off two weeks ago because I'd been working 14-15 hours days for a couple months and was ridiculously behind at home.

What did I do?  Got UVERSE installed, organized the boys dressers, picked up the house and did 8 loads of laundry.   I did read a book for an hour...so there's that.

What would I do if I had a day off work, no kids, and I was actually caught up on life?  Get a pedicure, go to a coffee shop and read a book and go shopping for nothing in particular.

  • I have literally nothing I could do with a day off.  I can't friviously spend money and go shopping and have a spa day like I used to, I hate to clean and can't make my food for Sunday this far in advance.  All I have to do at home is cut the grass which I'm avoiding because DH has said for 3 days he's going to do it and then it ends up being over 90 outside.

I'd rather be at work. :-(

  • I would go see a movie by myself. And then honestly, I think I'd want to be at home working on some projects that I never seem to get around to. Sad, too.

But I'd make a margarita and get wasted while doing it. So there's that.

Oh, but I guess drinking alone is also considered sad... Ah well.

I'd probably start off with sleeping until like 7.

Get up and have a nice hot cup of coffee and watch the news for a half hour.

Take three hours and clean my entire house. (Maybe add in an extra hour there to empty out my extra room that is filled with stuff from when we moved, I want to make it a playroom for the girls)

(ETA) Workout for an hour (run outside if nice...which it is because this is my dream day off)

    Go out for a mani/pedi.

Do a little shopping for me and the girls (and DH if he needed anything).

Pick up a few things at the grocery store to make a nice dinner.

Go home and cook without two little muchkins crawling up my leg/stove/cabinets/table.

End my solo portion of the day and have a nice dinner with everyone.

I haven't thought about this much though....

My sister was here yesterday for work but her meetings were over at noon so I took the afternoon off. We went out to eat and shopping. Her daughter, my niece, turns 18 next month so we were buying new clothes for her birthday present. They went to Paris this summer and she has completely changed her way of dressing to cute skirts and blousey tops or dresses every day. It was really fun to shop for clothes like that for an 18 year old with a perfect body. I bought myself a few things too, of course :)
And thanks Chimi for introducing me to Francesca's. It was the perfect store for her style and they don't have one so it will be totally original clothes at her school.

  • I would sleep in, exercise, give the house a really good clean, get a pedi, do some craft projects I've been wanting to work on, and order dinner in for all of us.

I would sleep as late as I could, wake up, drink a hot cup of coffee, and watch TV, by myself, all day. Everything else always gets done, cleaning, cooking, shopping. I want a day to do nothing.
