pointing ?

DD is 12 months and has no interest in pointing at objects. I tell her to point at objects in a book and she tries to kiss them. Its kind of cute actually. Did your DC just start pointing at things on their own or did you have to show them how to do it?

    Ds started on his own, just recently too... maybe last week or 2... I wouldnt worry yet

    DS is 16 mths and just started to point to objects when asked. Before this, he just pointed randomly. I wouldn't worry about it but when you read to her point to an image and say the word. Eventually they will pick it up.

    I'm pretty sure that I would say to Ben.  "Do you want ______?" and I would point to it. At first, he just used his whole hand, but quickly, he started using his finger.  Now, he's 18 months he points and says "get, please".  LOL!

    He started on his own about a month ago. Sometimes its a clear point where his pointer finger is all by itself and other times the rest of the fingers are also up but the pointer finger is just slightly above the rest.

    Oh and I don't think he's able to point at a specific object if I ask him. He just points at things he wants to point at.

    oh and DS only really points when I say baby, dada or car... He understands other things but only points to those...

    Mine didn't really point with their finger at first- they hold their thumb in and make the four fingers point things out. Molly has just with in the last month started pointing with her finger.

    DD has been pointing at things for a little over a month now and can only point to a couple of things if asked where it's at. ?She has gotten really good at pointing at what she wants over the past 2 weeks. ?Your DD doesn't seem too far off especially if she's kissing the things you're talking about, she's showing that she's making a connection.

    does she point at all?  like when she wants to show you something or if he wants something and doesn't have the words to tell you?  i think those are the things you want to watch for vs. pointing when you ask her to.  i'm sure it'll happen...she's still young.  i never had to show dd, she just picked it up.

    I had NO clue on the pointing!  Pedi asked at 12 month wcc if DD was pointing and I looked at her like she was crazy.  DD had even tried to point at anything.  Then, like magic, over the weekend she started pointing at EVERYTHING!  I wasn't even showing her how to point or even working on it, she just started.

    Both started pointing on their own. ?Dd was about 12-13m I think, & ds didn't point until 15m. ?
