For those who went into labor on your own, anything you noticed the day or night before? (did you feel "off", extra crampy, burst of energy etc.) I am so curious
The day before things got started I felt fine, then went Christmas shopping (lots of walking). that night I felt nauseous and had lots of ctx. I continued to feel that way for another 24 hours before it was bad enough to go the birth center.
I'd had a cervix check on the am the day before I had dd2. So I felt really achey and crampy all day, which I knew was normal, so I really didn't think much of it, but that evening I still just really felt miserable. It wasn't even what I would call painful, just really couldn't get comfortable, all over body aches when I moved etc.
That night around 2-3 am, I ran to the bathroom and had diarrhea, went back to bed and rand back in about 3 minutes later and threw up. I thought that was weird, because even though I hadn't felt good, I definitely hadn't felt sick. I remembered one of my girlfriends telling me that when she was in labor with her first, she totally emptied out from both ends.
I called the OB office the next morning, they aren't going to have me go in, till she asked if I'd had diarrhea or thrown up. After that, she told me to go to l&d. I was still closed, but having painless contractions for he hour they monitored me. Still closed after that hour, but they had me walk the halls for an hour. That took me to 4cm and they admitted me.

Nope. Nothing. I had a totally normal day at work. Went home and put together the infant swing then did a little cleaning. After dinner I took a bubble bath and went to sleep early. I woke up at 6 am and realized I could time my contractions. I stayed home all day because they were not painful and even sent DH to work for a few hours to wrap up some things. I called and texted with people at work because I figured I wouldn't be in the next day. When DH came home we ate and then walked until my contractions were pretty painful. We went to the hospital late that night but DS didn't arrive until the next afternoon.
I felt awful the day before labor with DS. I felt like I was coming down with some kind of bug. I had no appetite, diarrhea off and on, and was generally crampy, achy and exhausted. I would highly recommend that if you feel like this you should get as much rest as possible. Labor could be imminent and you will need your energy. I didn't rest enough and was so sluggish though labor... Which could have played some part in needing a csection.
Honestly the night my water broke I was having less discomfort than I had been the previous days. With DS1 I noticed that my hips were killing me all that day, which was new, but this time my hips had already been hurting for weeks.
I felt a slight indigestion feeling and like I had a head in my crotch (because I did). I was super uncomfortable and couldn't sleep. After moving around all night trying to get comfortable, my water broke at 5:30am. Contractions started about 2-3 hours later.

The day I went into labor, I slept in really late but then was tired again about half an hour after getting up. I didn't want to take a nap because I was worried I wouldn't sleep that night. And then I was totally kicking myself when my water broke at 10:15 p.m., right before I was headed to bed, and contractions started shortly thereafter. I have made a promise to myself to listen to my body better this time!
I'm not there yet, but thanks for posting this! I love reading people's stories. Keep the responses, coming everyone. I hope it is okay to post this- I spent a good chunk of time today reading all 10 pages of this message board thread: https://www.constantchatter.com/forum/showthread.php?1396-Were-You-Surprised-By-Labor-Or-Were-There-Warning-Signs It has a lot of women's stories about how they felt before they went into labor, and "in hindsight," how they should have known it was coming!
Just want to say I love this post! I've been feeling a little off and my mind keeps racing like of this is probably my body telling me I'm about to go into labor soon. But it seems to just get my hopes up.
I will keep in mind to nap and rest while I can and when I want. I did that yesterday where I was so tired but wouldn't let myself sleep because I didn't want to be up all night. I was anyway
Honestly, looking back, the only thing I noticed that was different is that DS was waaaaaaaay low the morning I went into labor. Even XH noticed when I got out of bed that morning and commented "Holy crap, you didn't look like that yesterday!" My water broke about 3 hours later.
With DS1 I was 37 weeks. I had a burst of energy and slept SO well, after feeling like shit for weeks and not being able to sleep. Got up from bed and my water broke. No cramping, contrax, etc to speak of, just pressure that had been building for weeks.
With DS2 I had bh for weeks but never had less painful contractions that I was aware of. Just started having painful contrax around 4am on the way to my RCS. By the time I was getting prepped for surgery the contractions were coming fast and were bad! I didn't notice any extra energy or anything but knew my c/s was coming up so I was excited and feeling pretty good.
The day before I just felt awful. I didn't want to get out of bed, just wanted to sleep all day and was horribly nauseous. That night my water broke at 3:30am. I was 40 weeks 3 days.
I have felt that same feeling of awfulness in the past couple weeks and still pregnant this time.
No warning at all! We had a party the night before and my dad called it the "labor induction party." Guests said I was pigging out and therefore preparing for labor but I'm 100% sure I would have pigged out just as much any other day.
I also went to bed uncharacteristically late that night (about midnight) because of the party. Contractions started at 5am. So I didn't get a full night's sleep but it really didn't matter for labor, because it happened quickly and was not a big strain on me. I was in really good shape. I'm worried about this time because I'm really NOT in good shape!
I felt pretty good. I had a normal day at work, went home and did that evening and did all the usual stuff. That evening before bed I threw up and had a pretty horrible stomach ache. I blamed it on my poor exH's cooking! I woke up in the middle of the night because my water broke.
The day before I had a "bloody show" at around 3pm and them light period type cramps for the rest of the day...by 3 am I was woken up by full on contractions....delivered at 4:42 that evening....
I felt normal but had a slight bit more pressure down there. Overnight my hips felt much worse than normal (flipping sides didn't help relieve the pain). But nothing to make me feel like I was about to have a baby.
The day before I went into labor with DS, I felt normal. It was a Friday and I went to work, came home, ate a small dinner, and passed out... the usual. That Saturday I had a HUGE burst of energy and scrubbed the entire house from top to bottom, including the shower tiles with a toothbrush. My contractions began at around 11am and felt like uncomfortable and irregular BH. By 4pm they were very time-able (8min apart). I took a shower (and lost my MP), blow-dried my hair, did my makeup, and then told DH that he might want to take a shower and get dressed because I was in labor. I didn't want to freak him out and I was shocked about how calm I was at that moment. I called the hospital at around 7pm (contractions 4min apart) and my doc, who was on call, told me to come in. DS was born at 3:42am that Sunday morning. I still don't know how I was so calm.

Yes, I have a blog and it's hilarious (except when it's not)
