3 days of daycare and both got sick! This is going to be a long year! How do you all manage it? We are both teachers and cannot call out a lot. Luckily my dad will help as needed but wow day 3 and sick!
It may just be a coincidence. My son has been in daycare for 10 months and has only been sick twice. You are fortunate to have your dad to help. We have no help, it's me or my husband and we just have to take turns...fortunately we both work for family friendly companies (for the most part)
I hope its just coincidence too. The first yr in DC was rough. As a WM, I stick to the school policy on illnesses. If my LO has the sniffles she's going to school. I cannot take off work often.

This. My son is almost 18 months old and has only been sick twice (enough that he had to stay home). However, the bigger problem for us was that he might come home with a little cold for a day but it would turn into a raging, bedridden illness that dragged on for days with my husband and me. I've been far sicker than my kid!
I could have totally written this. DD made it 2.5 days - I had to go pick her up midday yesterday. Luckily my mom is coming to watch her today so that I don't have to miss more work.
If it makes you feel better, we didn't even make day 1. DD woke up in a pile of puke Monday morning and DH had to call in because it was my first day back. It was lovely. Thankfully last year really wasn't that bad and I think she was out a half a dozen days total that were required. We did keep her home longer than required by daycare for our own peace of mind so that added 5 additional days, but like I said that was our choice.
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!
This is normal. Both of my kids were sick by the end of their first week. For the first few months they were each out sick at least once a month, but after about 5 months it got better. They still get sick but not nearly as often. Good luck, it will get better eventually.
Yeah, the first 6 months were so hard and I missed a lot of work. Things got better the second 6 months, and by year 2 they were way better. Now, my 5 year old never, ever seems to get sick.
This happened to us too. The director told us to expect her to come down with something within a week and she enough she did. They also told me the first winter is the worst. My DD was pretty much sick all winter. Not trying to scare you just being honest about our situation.
Same here. We all got sick within the first week with a cold and pinkeye. Talk about a rough start. Our pedi told us that we should basically expect to be sick for the first year. That scared us enough to start looking for a nanny but we're still in daycare right now.
EVERYONE says it gets better after the first year though. Hang in there!
Poor LO! Could be a fluke though. Could be something you or your H brought home from your schools too.
I think DS1 was sick twice his first year and DS2 has only been sick once. Both had the perpetual runny nose though the first year. It does get better!

I think we made it about 2 weeks
, but luckily that was the only time it was really bad enough for him to miss a day.
