Hairy Legs for First Appointment!!

Okay, So I have been complaining about my low back pain for the last couple weeks. I hate to keep beating the dead horse, but ladies I'm simply miserable! I'm talking no work for the last two weeks, simply laying on the couch all day trying not to move an inch or I start screaming in pain. Things are very slowing getting better, I'm able to sit and lay down okay, but I'm walking around like a little old lady for only 10 minutes at a time, and bending over is out of the question, lol.

So this brings me to my problem. I have my first appointment on Friday, not an ultrasound yet, but checking down there for the ususal stuff, ya know. Like I said, at least two weeks have gone by and my legs and downstairs area are a freaking forest to say the least!!! I can not bend over anywhere near close enough to shave, what do I do?!!! I'm thinking maybe duck tape a razor on a piece of wood or something? and there is no way in HELL I'm asking my hubs for help. I'd like to keep a little mystery in our marriage thank you. Anyway thought I would share my little dilemma with everyone and try to keep a sense of humor out of the whole thing at least....

Re: Hairy Legs for First Appointment!!

  • Don't shave, my sheet mostly covers your legs anyway and I am sure OBs have seen worse.

Have you seen a doctor about your back?  Missing two weeks of work doesn't sound like the average back pain.  I know you said it hurts, but usually not moving around and laying down all day actually makes it worse.

  • @angelsnight, I have been seeing a chiropractor daily. I've had low back problems off and on for years, so I think that is why it is more severe. If it isn't starting to feel better by the end of the week though, I'm going to see a doctor as well.

You are right about lying around making it worse, I have really been trying to get up and be active, but some days the pain is simply too much and laying down is the only way I get relief, getting more active daily though. I did manage to go back to work yesterday :)

  • Poor girl! I hope you start feeling better soon. As far as shaving goes... When your doc hears/sees what you've been going through they will probably expect that you haven't been able to shave. And as pp said, they've always seen worse...
  • I just sucked it up and shaved for the first time in like two weeks myself. I've just been too lazy. ;-) My second 1st appointment is tomorrow. Maybe get dh to nair them for you, then just rinse off in the shower? I freak out about that stuff too...i remember the night before I went to the hospital with DD, I was doing preggo-yoga moves in the shower for like two hours trying to reach all my fury parts. :-D

  • A lot of my hippier friends (1 who is a PA and another who is a cardiac nurse) don't ever shave... I don't think it will be an issue at the doc. :)

That sounds terrible.  I've had really bad episodes with my herniated discs, I know back pain is the worst.  For me, once I am up and walking around I feel much better, but it takes about ten minutes of being in severe pain and walking like I have a stick up my butt.  If I even sit down for a minute, I have to start all over when I stand up again.  Luckily I haven't had an issue in over a year.  I hope you feel better very soon!

  • Maybe go in and have your legs (and lady bits) waxed?? It'll last longer than shaving too!
  • The hardware wood sounds a bit extreme, Id use a wood spoon and duct tape. ;)
Screw waxing your in enough pain, keep your chin up and know theyve seen much worse.
  • Maybe a sister, close friend, mom or other relative could help you?

  • That's definitely not normal back pain for first trimester. Mine hurts, but I can still do everything.
  • Check if it is your kidneys ! don't let this pain pass you by without care. I get back pain too but I can shave . Well my last doc visit I went in with legs shaved but i was missing a couple of spots ! I didn't see them when I was shaving. The nurse looked at me like "oh you missed a little there" -_-
  • Doctors and nurses don't care if you're hairy or not. Don't sweat it.
