What's the most pregnant you've flown? How did you do? I'm thinking about taking DD to NYC for her long weekend break in Oct. It would just be the two of us and I'd be 30 weeks. Am I crazy?
Ask your doctor. I flew at 20 some odd weeks but stopped after that. Are you going to feel good enough to walk around the city? I felt pretty good at 30 weeks with my first but have been in so much pain this time around. Even if the flight was ok I'd be worthless once I got there.
Honestly, DD's idea of going to NYC is seeing as many shows as possible and she will want to take a lesson with a voice coach up there that taught her camp this summer, so there won't be much wandering the city. But you do make a good point, I'd need extra cab money.
I think a lot of airlines will cut you off after a certain date. I'd probably bring a note saying you're medically safe to travel. Even if you don't need it, better to have it. Especially in case you have trouble boarding on the way home. Wouldn't want to get stuck in NY.
I flew to a wedding at 35 weeks and a few days during my 2nd pregnancy. I felt fine until the last 30 minutes of the flight back. I started having painful contractions during descent. Looking back, it was foolish. I should've just stayed home. Nothing went wrong, but I feel a little silly for risking it.
I personally would feel good about flying at 30 weeks if I had no signs of going early (which are notoriously wrong anyway). How are you feeling though? My last pregnancy kicked my ass and I wouldn't have gotten on a plane at 20 weeks, let alone 30. What a nice trip together before baby comes!
I flew at 38 weeks with DS2 and did just fine. It was only a short 1.5 hr flight, so my doctor wasn't worried. I gave birth a week later. It was kind of an odd and unavoidable situation that probably wouldn't normally be recommended, but you should do great at 30 weeks.
I just flew at 32 weeks and with DS I flew at 35 weeks with no problems. Just be sure to get up and walk every hour and drink tons and tons and tons of water (and get an aisle seat or better yet, first class).
I had a friend fly, with doctors permission, at 38 weeks when she left and 40 weeks when she came back. It was her fourth kid and she had gone late with each one (still not a guarantee, but whatever) so she was comfortable doing it. She ended up going 2 weeks over so she was ok, but I wouldn't really recommend that. At 30 weeks you should be fine.

Re: Latest you've flown pregnant?
Other than that, sounds fun!

This time, well, that would be torture. I mean, I could have done it at 30 weeks. But I wouldn't have enjoyed it or the trip if it's super short.
