Fantastic MILs

We hear a lot of crazy stories about nosy and rude MILs (I'm so sorry!!) but what about the great MILs out there?

My MIL, who lives across the country, has been sending me baby mementos from DH, to distract me from my horrible nausea. She writes me handwritten notes and is wonderful in general and never too nosy. Thank God for her! (DH is her only child, so she's very invested but in a good way)

Do you have a great MIL? Let's celebrate them!

My mil is wonderful! She'll be coming to visit from New Zealand next month. We just told her Monday, and she is beyond excited! We've already got shopping trips planned for when she gets here. DH and I are hoping that the twins will convince her to move back to the states :-)

My MIL is awesome! I'm more excited to tell her than my own mom. My moms a total wet blanket, gloom and doom, her dead dog was a more important topic than our being able to conceive naturally after 10 years, type of person. My MIL will be the one running out to buy whatever furniture we want, clothes, accessories - and she has a TON of grand kids and even a few great grands. Best part - she's not invasive AT ALL. She waits for info from us, and maybe we'll get a random "how are you feeling?"

(We have 1 DD, IVF baby, 6.5 yo. 1 m/c last year. Waiting until 12 wks to tell ANYONE, since I m/c'd at 7w6d last time).

I love my MIL too! We haven't told her yet about the pregnancy but she'll be so excited about it. She's just really respectful, funny, sweet and kind. I feel like I won the MIL jackpot!

My MIL is also amazing. She is so supportive, and willing to help us any way she can. She comes and gets DD when I need a rest, takes us shopping, and is just really easy to talk to. I got really lucky with getting a great MIL!

I hit the jackpot. MIL is an interior designer and was at the new house when we moved in (at our request), had her painter there the next day with color wheels, the carpet cleaner scheduled for the week after the painters would finish, and the new furniture scheduled for delivery after that. Otherwise, she's kept her thoughts to herself on our decor (other than complements).

She also watches our DD one day a week and has yet to comment negatively on our parenting.

she & FIL will actually be joining my family on our beach vacation tomorrow and we'll tell everyone that we are hoping for LO #2 to arrive in April. Love them almost as much as my own.

My MIL is super sweet and absolutely adores her grandchildren. Her and DH have an awesome relationship and I just love her. Plus, she always has lots of wine

Wow, mine is good but not that good.

Mine is just sweet, respectful, and not at all overbearing. The best two things about her really are that (a) she loves my DS and will love this new baby and (b) she has her own life so she does not at all feel the need to impose upon ours.

My MIL is amazing! DH is her only child so this is her only chance at Grandkids and she is loving it. She's already working on shutterfly books for the baby (one for each year of its life) the first is all about mommy and daddy! She is always asking how I am and making sure she isn't being too nosy! Love her!!!

My inlaws are great too

They adore our son and love having us visit. They are kind and generous and always excited to see us and hear updates. My parents and my husband's parents get along great too. We both really have awesome relationships with our families.

Mine are great too! My MIL made a peach pie and brought it to our house the other day. It pairs well with a nice glass of milk!!

Mine is too

Though this is our third and their 7th grandchild. Since our two are older now (7 and 5) and everyone thinks we're done having kids, this should be interesting when we tell them!

Our families get along really well too which makes things so nice and easy. That was one of the first things I thought when I met DH's family is that they were so much like mine and so laid back. I had issues with past boyfriends mom's so it makes me so thankful my in laws aren't crazy!

My MIL is great! We live on the same farm and she always makes herself available to watch DS whenever we need her.

My MIL is awesome! I wish we lived closer. This will be her 16th grandbaby and she is just as excited as if it were her first. She's one of the most kind-hearted people I know, and she is always willing to help anyone she can, whenever she can. My husband's entire family is awesome. I'm really lucky.

My MIL is great. We've always gotten along really well. She's a really musical person and likes to tune into that for DD1, which I think is fun. They do a lot of singing and bongo playing and stuff that I just don't think to do because I'm not very musical.

She used to be a NICU nurse, so she was a great resource for me when I had pre-e with DD1. We live pretty far from her now, but I always enjoy seeing her.

My mil is awesome. Nothing specific in regards to this pregnancy, it she's terrific. Helpful without being nosey or pushy.

I love my MIL. She's very laid-back which is nice - supportive but not pushing

We haven't told her (or anybody yet) but I know she'll be great when we do.

What a great board! I love my MIL and am definitely more excited to tell her than my own! This will be her second grand baby and she is going to be ecstatic. She also LOVES to shop. Bring on the baby gifts!

I love my MIL, FIL different story. Both were pleasant, but neither over joyed as this is #10 for them. I expected a bit more since this is their baby's 1st baby, but no. She will certainly be helpful. I know she will not be pushy or nosey. She will be there when I need advice or help, but all her other grand kids are 2+ hrs away which makes it feel like she's used to not being needed anymore. Oh well, at least she's not bad. I enjoy spending time with her often

My inlaws are fantastic too. We told them last night and they squeezed me so hard and kept thanking us. They were super understanding when we said we don't want anyone else to know yet. Couldn't ask for a better pair.
