How long should you wait between ultrasounds?

I'm having my first ultrasound during week 17, and they will tell us (if baby cooperates) the baby's sex. However, we recently had a friend use this doctor and they were told all along it was a girl, until about 37 weeks then they said it was a boy. So, we're planning on using an elective ultrasound place to determine the sex and for 3d/4d later on.

Is there a certain amount of time that we should wait between ultrasounds?

I would say wait 2 week at minimum. This gives time for significant changes so you're less likely to run into maybes and percentages. I can't think of anything worse than decorating super girly and for that bundle to be a boy.

Seriously? Hopefully just a poor choice of wording, but I can think of plenty worse things.

OP, unless you're dying to start registering and/or decorating right away, I would honestly wait till about 30 weeks for the elective one. That way instead of spending money on just a second opinion sex determination, you're also getting to enjoy your baby in 3D/4D (they look much better this way the further along you are). Just because the doctor (and it was likely a tech, not the doctor, and you may not even get that same tech) was wrong in this one case, doesn't necessarily mean they are crappy at determining sex. Whatever answer they give you, accept it for now, knowing it can always be wrong (no matter where you go) and then get confirmation at 30 weeks. It would still be plenty of time to change your registry items, and you can wait to do any major decorating until then.

If you are talking about is it ok to have ultrasounds close together, the answer is yes. We had one at 7 weeks, one at 8 weeks, and one at 9 weeks because of our specific situation.

If you are asking because of the chance that they may not be able to tell the sex at first and maybe they can later, then I would say 2 weeks would be more than enough time for genitalia to develop more. But, keep in mind that if the little wienie is hiding or the baby is being uncooperative then you might not be able to tell or you might get told the wrong sex. Usually when doctors are incorrect it is because they say girl and it ends up being a boy. It is a lot easier to hide a penis than to see something that isn't there.

As PP have said if your question is about is it ok to have ultrasounds close together, yes. I will be getting weekly ultrasounds starting at 14 weeks for cervix checks.

If you are asking when would be a better time to get a second opinion on the sex of your baby...if you are getting an elective ultrasound I'd wait until you're further along and can enjoy a 3D/4D one.

I mostly meant is it ok for them to be close together. This ultrasound place is new, but I know the owner's husband and the woman is legit and has only hired highly certified people with lots of experience. Also, for their grand opening their offering great deals so I can get the gender ultrasound and a 3d/4d for the price of just a 3d/4d if I wait until later to schedule it
