My son (21 months) used to take 3 hour naps every afternoon from 12-3. From the first day we brought baby #2 home from the hospital 2 weeks ago, my son has not taken any afternoon nap. He is clearly exhausted and puts his head down on your shoulder when you pick him up, but the second you start walking towards his room or try and lay him down anywhere (including his stroller on a long walk), he starts to scream. As you can imagine, this leads to a very overtired child for the rest of the afternoon.
I have made sure the baby is not around before nap time so that its not on his mind, I have tried extending our winddown period, I have tried consoling him and telling him that it is nap time and walking out of the room but he screams until he throws up. The longest period we have let him cry is 45 minutes without going back in.
I don't know what to do because he can not go on without naps and neither can I:)
Please help!
