Teething question

I thought the major pain was as the tooth was coming in.... Once it cut things got better? Is that right? Lexi got her first tooth yesterday so I thought yay what a champ! And last night she was up every 30 minutes

I noticed a day or two after they pushed thru she was more calm, we got two at the same time!
