March 2014 Moms

I think I felt the baby!

I'm 13w2d so it might be too soon, but I felt something right where the baby was when they found him/her for the Doppler last week. The way I was half-sitting, half-laying was kind of putting pressure on that area, so that may have made it more likely for me to feel it? Idk I'm a FTM so I don't know what I'm talking about haha

Re: I think I felt the baby!

  • I don't want to dampen your excitement, but I kinda doubt it was the baby you felt. I'm a FTM too, but I've worked in an OB/GYN office, and been around mommies enough to know that FTM's usually don't feel baby that early.  Of course you could be an exception (so congratulations on feeling the baby move the first time if you are).:) Generally speaking though , it's still a bit too soon for FTM's to feel baby at 13weeks.

  • Sounds too early, most FTMs don't usually feel anything until at least 17-20 weeks.

  • That's what I thought too. But it's lower than where I normally feel gas, and right where the nurse found baby on Doppler. I really won't know for sure til later when I for sure feel it and know what it feels like :)
  • Anything is possible but it's likely gas. I know what it feels like to feel the baby move but I still get confused. Keep paying attention and maybe it will turn out to be the real thing. :)

  • I felt my first at 16 weeks, but my second at 11 so I think it's possible even for a FTM.  Honestly I think the only reason STM's feel it earlier is because we know what we're waiting to feel :)  Very exciting if it was the baby, if not it won't be long!!

  • I've been feeling weird twinges down where baby is that definitely aren't gas. I think I might be feeling my pulse, which would make sense because of the increased blood flow to the area. When my OB was looking for the heartbeat the other day, she heard one of my arteries right where I'm feeling "movement". That could be what you're feeling.

  • Quickening can start as early 13-16 wks. So it is def. possible!

  • I felt my first baby consistently at 14 weeks. My husband started feeling solid kicks at 18weeks my others were a little later, he was just very active and easy to feel.
