Summary of the "Crazy Gun Thread"

I know what you're thinking, its 14 pages long! I KNOW its full of crazy, butttttt butttttt so many pages! I just need the short version of the crazy please?

Your wish is my command. Here are some things crazy april 2014 moms who think they aren't the crazy ones but WE are the crazy ones think:

- Its best to carry a gun at all times, ESPECIALLY around children. For safety!

- It would actually be negligent to allow your child to go on a play date with a mom who wasn't packing

- Its ok to carry your gun in a diaper bag especially if you are pretty sure your kid doesn't know it is in there (because then how can they find it? duh)

- My child of X years could NEVER have the strength and dexterity to load a gun/pull a trigger/find a hidden gun/pull a trigger. I mean, it takes finger strength!

- Cars and drowning kill more kids than guns so there really isn't any point in worrying about guns at all! how can you even go driving your kids places with a clear conscience! you monster.

- totally normal to lock yourself in your bedroom all night to be safe from intruders, even if you happen to have kids in the house in other rooms

- No reason to disclose to other moms at the playground that you happen to be carrying a gun in your diaper bag. It's your constitutional right not to tell them!

- You could kill someone with a rock or your fist! so whats the difference whether someone carries a gun or not?

I love how everyone that doesn't agree with being able to carry can voice their opinions but those that want to carry can't say anything without being judged.

I kinda think the judging goes both ways. From that thread, apparently everyone who is for concealed carry thinks that the rest of us are ignorant, naive, crime-victims-to-be who want to ban guns outright (as opposed to people keeping them locked up and away from our children or have reasonable things like background checks).

I refrained from commenting my opinions on that post - it got way off topic, fast. But I think this post is taking things a little too far by calling those moms crazy just because they exercise their right to carry. Maybe they think you're crazy because you wouldn't be able to protect your children/family in some instances. Everyone is not going to agree on the topic, period. Let's not stoop to name calling simply because some people want to carry and others don't. At the end of the day, lets just hope those who carry do so responsibly & with proper training, and that none of us ever find ourselves in a situation where we have to pull our gun, or where we wish we had a gun, but didn't.

Seriously? Unless someone specifically asked, this was totally unnecessary. And ridiculously skewed. There are lots of gun owners who are responsible and there were plenty of pro-gun posters yesterday who were not spouting crazy. And that's coming from someone squarely on the "I don't see the purpose of a private citizen carrying a gun during normal day to day activity" side.

Well in my state you do have to have a background check and pay for and attend a gun safety class. I know its not the same in all states though. I'm sure these moms that want to carry aren't going on any shooting sprees.

agree...there is no need for this post. A post for the sole purpose of stirring up drama is a ridiculous waste of time & energy on your part. If you are so disgusted by legal gun use, perhaps you should run for congress and make some changes. or start a blog.

I agree people can be responsible gun owners. I'm not against owning a gun at all. I didn't say people who owned a gun were crazy. I just mentioned some particularly crazy things people said.

I agree this thread is probably unnecessary however, this is true.

Thank you! I don't get this either and I'm talking about on any thread. Who gets to determine who is crazy and who is not when none of us really know one another? In addition, referring to others as trolls gets under my skin and is not deemed necessary.

I don't say much on here because the one time I did, I was referred to as crazy and was told I'm going to raise my child to be evil because of a comment I made on a personal family issue. Well, I have thick skin, but I did get offended and thought "walk a mile in my shoes" before judging me. Plus, I am religious so using the term evil made my skin crawl. But, I kept my composure and didn't entertain the comments being made.
Ladies, we are all here for the same reason: we are pregnant and want to share our stories and ask questions. Is it that hard for women to conduct themselves in a mannerly, well-respected way.
I am in no way saying don't share your opinions, please do. But, we shouldn't be passing judgement on any user on here, newbie or veteran.

I agree with @acaawkward, this post was completely unnecessary and you are only trying to prolong the drama on the topic.

My husband has his conceal to carry but in no way would I ever think people who don't carry are ignorant. Everyone has a choice, that's the beauty of it. 90% of our friends don't carry. My brother is a police officer and he doesn't carry off duty, I respect that. He has two young children and so I understand why he doesn't.

If I do get my permit to carry it will be for at work. I won't be carrying it around my kids but that is my personal opinion and I won't judge others for doing so.

So there are certain things that get said on here that are crazy to the typical person. This typically comes at a view of being an extremist in either direction on any issue.

The term troll is a real term meant to describe a specific type of poster. It is meant to describe someone who drops in just to start drama and leaves. Here is the definition of an internet troll from the oh so factual Wikipedia:

Can't we remember all the other threads bashing people or our family members for unsolicited advice? Don't we Hate it when people look at us funny for wanting to do cloth diapers? Or homemade baby food? Or spanking our children? Or time outs? Or staying at home with the children? Or not?

Wouldn't this be considered unsolicited advice? or Unwelcomed Opinions? If I want to have a gun in my car and put cloth diapers on my children - isn't my choice? Just like its yours to make homemade baby food, stay at home, and NOT carry a gun?

We ALL know how this feels... So, can we be empathetic and just shut it down already?

Oh, and OP! You're post is 100% biased against us "Crazy Gun Owner's" and you know. Which is totally unfair to do when starting up a whole knew thread about this issue. Not cool.
