  • Aveeno face wash helped me

  • Clinique 3 step stuff, don't want to jinx it but totally works. I do it in the morning and at night, so worth the money to me!
  • I generally do not get acne but after getting pregnant this has been a big problem.  I started using Neutrogena on-the-spot treatment (along with my usual stuff) and it is helping.
  • Sulfur based products work well for blemishes. It's also safe to use glycolic acid products. Just remember that you can't use stuff with Salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, or retinoids.
  • I love this stuff from Sephora:  EradiKate
Works great on pimples and it's sulfer based so it should be fine for pregnancy.

Also, might sound totally counter intuitive, but I've also tried virgin coconut oil - just put a thin layer on at night after you wash your face.  It seems weird adding oil, but it seriously has amazing results!

  • Me too! When I was in high school I never ever got acne and now I'm making up for it apparently! My cheeks and my forehead are terrible!!!
  • Finacea! It's by prescription, but it's the only thing that helped me.

  • Clay masks and tea tree oil.

Trader joes actually sells pure tea tree oil (wet a cotton ball and add a drop of oil - rub over cleansed face), as well as tea tree oil cleansing pads - which I use for those nasty pimps all over my neck, chest, and back. Starting to work!

I use an Rx wash with sulfur in it, and also Finacea like @katykatykaty said. Both were okay'd by my dermatologist and OB while TTC and pregnant.

I was told by my OB and dermatologist that benzoyl peroxide products were safe. They didn't help me, so I'm not using them, but I don't think they are always off limits.

  • I did with my daughter. It's hormonal. But it was the worst Acne of my life and left some scars. Nothing worked except time. When 13 weeks rolled around it stopped forming and started healing. This time I haven't had any!! I was so scared of that happening again.
  • Also, you can use benzoyle peroxide. I used it with my daughter, 10% prescribed. It's safe during pregnancy. She was born healthy and normal.
  • knock on wood, my daily routine has been keeping the baddies off my face:

I wash every morning with Philosophy Purity (sold at Sephora and department stores), and I use cetaphil lotion under my bobbi brown tinted moisturizer.

At night, I scrub with a washcloth and Nutrogena, the old-school kind that comes in a blue tub. I then wash with Purity again. bare face to bed.

I also make sure to change the sheets a lot, and use sensitive skin detergent (I prefer Arm & Hammer). I'm pretty product/brand-picky, but these are the only ones that work for me. Good luck!

  • I break out more the day after I indulge in lots of sugar, dairy, and/or lots of carbs. This may just be me but its something to note!
  • As a medical aesthetician, the doctors I work for and every doctor I've worked for do not recommend that you use those products while pregnant. Now of course everything is a matter of professional opinion. An example is lunch meat, caffeine, etc. Some doctors say no, some say go for it. Always just ask your doctor to be sure. Opinions will vary. It's funny with BP though. A quick web search on that and you'll see WebMd advises against it yet another site says it's generally ok. Again, just gotta double check with your own doctor.
