I had my first doctors appt today and no HB dr said everything else looked great and that it is normal not to see a HB this early sometimes, but I'm still nervous. Has anyone here ever had this happen too?
I had an ultrasound at exactly 6 weeks. Beforehand I asked the doctor how nervous we would be if we didn't see a heartbeat. He said he wouldn't be that worried at all, it's early! We did see one but it was tiny and had probably started beating in the last 24 hours.
If your doctor isn't worried try not to be. When will they recheck?
Last April we thought we were closer to 7 weeks. I was not charting or temping, so I did not know when I actually ovulated. We were measuring 5 weeks and 6 days. The OBGYN said it was normal not to see it at 5 weeks and 6 days. We went back two weeks later and the baby was still measuring the same and still no heartbeat. I ended up having a D&C.
With that being said, it is totally normal not to see the heartbeat that early. If everything else looks great, I would be optimistic that when you go again, you will see it. Did they schedule a follow up U/S for you? Please keep us updated! Hugs to you that you are going through this. I know it sucks.
Thanks so much! I do feel better now. She scheduled a follow up U/S for a week from tomorrow, so thankfully I don't have too long to wait. I will keep you posted!
Hi, I'm going through the same thing. I went for an early ultrasound to determine how far along I am because my July period only lasted a day. I went on Aug 15th and all they saw was a gestational sac and yolk and I was measuring 5 weeks 5 days. They have me going back this Friday for another ultrasound. I'm nervous too but trying really hard not to think about it. Good luck!
