"You'll see, you'll want a second one."

No. I am an only child, and I'm okay with that. DH and I want an only child, and we're okay with that. Getting pregnant was a struggle for us, and because of my medical issues, being pregnant is a struggle for me. I don't know why it's such a sin to be happy with the one miracle we've been blessed with, and to be sure that this is it for us.

I haven't even had this one yet, why the pressure for a second already?

@summerleah when the time comes, enlist the nurses wherever you deliver in helping to keep your mom away. They deal with that all the time.

For our daughter, we had tried over 4 years and then did IVF. Before she even came out, we got the "so when are you going to give her a brother/sister?" My snarky answer - "When someone gives me $40k to have another one. We did IVF."

As Bari said, why all this hate on only children? I can see instances where YES, it would have been good for my DD to have a sib, but for the most part it's been pretty awesome "only" having one. :-) (this one is a surprise after 10 yrs of IF, but they'll be 7yrs apart... So it will be an interesting dynamic!)

Me too. Maybe I just know nice people. I get a lot of questions about cloth diapers and natural birth, but mostly just curiosity, or maybe a "Oh I could never do that". It's only online that I ever see stuff like "haha, let me know how that birth plan works out for you LOL."
