Cloth Diapering

What do you do with your wipes?

I have a 1 month old and 20 month old in cloth. My oldest has poos that are just super messy and require 10 wipes sometimes.  I usually stick them in the cloth diaper to keep poo from getting every where and then walk it to the trash can in the kitchen or powder room.  Either way, the stink is pretty offensive and it's gross to see poopy wipes when you go to use the trash can.  Is there a better way of disposing of the poopy wipes so we don't have to smell and look at them in the trash can?  IMO even taking the trash out daily isn't an option since sometimes my oldest poops 2-3x a day so there would inevitably be poopy wipes in the garbage at any given time of the day....  I guess I just need ideas for a better system!

  • I agree, cloth wipes are MUCH easier! DS often has 12-wipe diapers, but with cloth I think the most I've ever had to use was 3. Usually one does the trick, and you can dunk it or spray it to get the poo off. Just start with one pack or some baby washcloths if you're hesitant.

I just use part of the diaper to wipe off any solid poop and then wipe up the rest with cloth wipes.  I think I've only had to spray wipes maybe twice.
  • I haaaaaaate spraying wipes, but it's still more convenient than having to find a separate trash can for disposable wipes.
  • I have never sprayed my cloth wipes. I get most of the poop off with the diaper and then the rest of the poop on the wipe always washed out just fine. Plus who cares if wipes get stained.

  • I could not convince myself to do cloth wipes. To solve the conundrum of what to do with the poopy paper wipes, I use flushable ones, so when I go to wash out the dipe in the toilet, I can flush the wipes down then.

My favorite flushable wipes so far are Babyganics flushable wipes (I found them on diapers.com). They are thick and pop up and don't come out as clumps from the dispense like other brands I have tried.
