April 2014 Moms

Telling the soon to be sibling

Hi ladies. My name is Mandi. Just found out last Friday that I am pregnant. Based upon everything, I am assuming that I will be due April 12th. My boyfriend and I are very excited. But here comes my question, how did you tell the other siblings that you are pregnant. My boyfriend, Jason, has a 10 year old son. We get him every other weekend. His mom has another child so this wont be his first sibling. I was just looking for some cute and creative ways to tell Alex.

Re: Telling the soon to be sibling

  • I have nothing for cute and creative, but my 10 year old was excited! We told him he was about to have a new sibling, it took him several minutes and asked when. We told him we didn't know until I go to doctor, to which his reply was, "oh wow! You are growing a baby now? I thought you meant sometime! Yay!" Lol

  • I'm not telling my sons until Christmas Day. I'm going to wrap a box of bottles and bibs. I can only imagine the look on my 7yr olds face now. When he ask me why I got him baby stuff I'm going to tell him it's the feed his future brother/sister coming.
  • I'm in the same both as you trying to think of a creative way to tell my 2 daughters. They both come back from vacation next week. I know they're going to be excited so I want it to be cute and creative. They've wanted a baby more than me and hubby.
  • I forgot how my ex and his new wife told my oldest son but it was super cute as well. Wow it's going to be a huge family by the time we all get done. My oldest son has three brother already and one on the way.
  • I wanted to wait til Christmas but I was just so excited I couldn't. My son will be three soon, and he's the only child in either family. He's been begging and begging for a baby brother he saw a show on television the parents were welcoming a new child and and he has been stuck on having a sibling ever since. That's actually the reason we decided to have a second child, so after I confirmed it and the hubby ok'd me going ahead and letting people know I bought a small cake for my son and woke him up early the next morning with candles lit on the cake. He knows his birthday is coming soon so he asked me if it was his birthday. I told him no, that it was a better surprise! He was so excited when I told him that he was going to be a big brother and I told him to decide if he wanted a brother or a sister and then to blow the candles out and maybe his wish would come true, ultimately he decided he wanted both. It was simple but I loved his reaction, and it's great for doing something intimate with your child. It's only he & I around here 90% of the time the hubby is gone 30 days at a time for work, so we're very close. Then I let him tell our families, he was so excited. (:
