Gestational diabetic's support thread

It's early, probably too early for a diagnosis but since this is my second pregnancy and I had it last time, I will be on insulin again.


Anyone else?

    Not sure yet, I had a glucose test today that I failed so my Ob wants me to do the 3 hour one. I should find out thurs. fingers crossed that I pass.

    My ob says that I'm at a higher risk :/ testing tomorrow I think.

    I was on insulin with last preg and was told by the internal med dr to see him as soon as I was pregnant again bc I would be with every pregnancy and would eventually be type 2. However I am watching what I eat so I can delay that appt for awhile. My internal med Dr will be my father-in-law haha :). So don't want to spill the beans till at least 8 weeks.

    I had it with my first and was able to monitor it with diet. I did not have to go on insulin. My Dr. Said that there is no guarantee that I will have it again this pregnancy. But I will be taking the test soon sure! I hope I pass!

    i have type 2, so I was put on insulin last week and will be for the duration of my pregnancy. But so far so good.

    How has your diet been? My biggest challenge is getting protein in with the food aversions.

    Ugh. Last time my sugar on the first draw (before I even drank the syrup!) was 1 point over... I was sent back for the 3-hour, and I got so sick that I vomited. They sent me back, and again I got so sick and vomited: minutes before the last draw :-( I feel so nervous about it this time, but it has been motivation for me to eat better and exercise regularly. I'll report back in a couple of weeks after my first appt with my midwife.

    I'm a type one, so I've been on insulin since diagnosis, 20 years ago this December. Not exactly the same, but not totally different, either. :)
