S/O food in the night

I've gotten in a habit of giving DS (16 months) milk when he wakes up at night and I know it's a bad habit. He went from a night wake up just once every few weeks to a wake up a few times a week.

DH and I are going away for a few nights next week and when I come back I plan to stop giving him milk at night. Does anyone put a sippy cup with water in the crib? Can you recommend a good one that doesn't leak? All of ours seem to leak if not upright.

Also - any other suggestions?

  • I don't put sippy in the crib with DD only because I know she will drink the entire thing at once. I keep it on her table and if she wakes up I will go in and give it to her.

We use playtex sippy cups or munchkin ones- no leaking

  • Over the summer Reese has been in a panic at bedtime--she wants "ice cold water" in her crib. God forbid if it isn't "Ice cold water" She usually drinks some of it before she falls asleep--and then she puts it on top of the crib rail when she is done. Which freaks me out, because I always think they she will roll around in the crib and bump into it and the cup falling on her head.

She loves her cold water though.

  • We have been giving DS a sippy cup of water for as long as I can remember.  Sometimes he drinks the entire thing before falling asleep, sometimes it is basically full when he wakes up, but her refuses to go upstairs to bed/nap without filling a glass up.  We generally use Tommee Tippee cups, but also sometimes just use a repurposed Tummy Tickler bottles if we have some lying around - which we normally do.  The Tummy Tickler bottles leak a bit, but since it is water, we don't really care (he sleeps in a queen sized bed, so I know, even if he spilled an entire sippy cup, he could find a dry place to sleep).
