Runners, Hows it going?

To all the runners out there, hows it going?  I am still hanging in there, but have had to cut back.  I have gone from running 4-6 miles to 2-4 miles.  I have also cut my running days from 3-5 to 2-3.  I just don't have the energy for more.  Even though I am still going, I am slower than a pack of turtles running through peanut butter.  Whats it like from you?  Still going strong?

Re: Runners, Hows it going?

  • I am struggling. I haven't run at all since Saturday. I have a 5k weekend after this one and I don't know if I'm even going to do it.

  • I'm struggling, too! Not running as much anymore. I feel like I get out of breath a lot quicker, so I've definitely slowed down...

  • Me too. I was running 4 days a week, 2.5-4.5 miles. I haven't been able to bust out more than 3 (a very SLOW 3) lately. But, I just keep telling myself that a slow run is better than no run!

  • Struggling, tired and my heart rate has gone up. On vacation and gave myself a break to rest and relax going to start up next week.
  • Slow. I'm struggling. Only ran for 20 minutes today, was too tired.
  • It's not.  My boobs hurt way too much.  :(

  • The hardest part for me is getting out of bed to go running but once I start I am fine.

  • its been a struggle. I'm finding I'm tired, slow, out of breath and it's so hot out. I have a marathon Oct 6th, I am way behind.
  • I just got back from the gym and I'm sad to say that in the couple of weeks since I found out I was pregnant, I haven't been able to run a 5K.  I don't have a problem with low intensity for an extended period (my husband and I walked 7.5+ miles at Valley Forge over the weekend) and my only issue was a sore thigh muscle.  But higher intensity (aka running) is just killing me.  Tonight, I barely made it through running 1 mile before I walked for a little bit.  Then, realizing how hard it was and my leg was sore again, I switched over to the elliptical.  I can go at a very steady pace on the elliptical because it doesn't seem to be as hard on my body.  And my husband has recommended that as time goes by and intensity becomes harder, to replace it with more and longer workouts, so here's hoping!

  • I used to run anywhere from 3-5 miles at 4-6 times a week. Now, my energy level as decreased so I'm not running as often. I'll still run the same distance but reduced my mile by 30-45 seconds. We have to make sure we are keeping are heart rate at a healthy number for the baby! I have a 5k this weekend, so here's to hoping all goes well!
  • Ran a half marathon at 6 weeks. Felt great. I did go to bed at 6:30pm that night. I'm just so tired, it's hard to keep motivated enough to wake up everyday at 5am to hit the gym.

  • Rolling out of bed and getting to the gym is the hardest part for me. Once I'm there, I usually do fine. I've actually been a little more motivated this week since they have childcare so it's a nice break from DS. I kept running/jogging all of the way through my first pregnancy and will try to do the same this time. I think it helped a lot for my labor, as well as helped body bounce back faster afterwards. Keep it up mamas :)
  • I've run twice since finding out I was pregnant, but once the morning sickness kicked into full gear that stopped.  I can't wait to get back out there, but its going to be a few weeks.  Last pregnancy I had it down to a pattern, and knew when Id be sick, so I could plan around it.  I also ran inside on a treadmill so I could stop to pee every 15 minutes.  I'll get there, but I'm having trouble getting a handle on it this time around.

  • I've been having trouble getting out of bed for my runs too. I was doing 3-5 miles 4ish days/week at about 8:30. I'm now barely getting 3 in at a pace closer to a 10 minute mile 2-3 (if I'm really good) days a week.

  • I've taken a break. I know it's completely fine to run (and I plan to dive back in this weekend), but I'm already running myself ragged as is - watching DD alone at night while DH works, out of the house 6am-6pm with a 3 hour commute, putting our house on the market, changing jobs...it's just been a lot.

  • Not good. The only time I have to run is if I wake up early and run before work and getting DD to daycare. I'm so tired in the morning and that is also when I feel the worst. I was able to get up this morning and get on our stationary bike. At least that's something!

  • I'm still going, about 25 miles a week, but at a slower pace for sure.  Went from about 8:30 pace to a 9ish pace, 4-6 tims a week, 3 to 6 miles at a time.  Since I found out, I haven't run more than 6ish miles.  I can't run during the hot day anymore though.  I've been waiting until sunset.  I'm hoping today I can get in a run more than 6 miles, but if I'm not feeling it I won't push it.  I'm just trying to go slow enough that I can sustain miles.  If you'd like to add me on dailymile here is my profile https://www.dailymile.com/people/MichelleO81.  We can become a pregnant running support group there too :D.

  • So jealous of you ladies! I've done so much research that says running is okay during pregnancy, but my doctor says no in the first trimester. I told her its a part of me and not running is gonna put me in a state of depression! I've been doing the stair stepper, walking fast at a 15% incline, swimming, and doing the stationery bike. Just not the same! :/

  • I had to buy new sports bras. But anyway it has really helped with ms symptoms. It has been hard to stay motivated, but once I'm out there running I'm glad I got out of bed. I usually run 3 days a week and swim or spin on 2 other days. So far I haven't been pushing too hard but I still run 10 min miles.
  • It sucks. Boobs hurt -and I have this super duper bra I use (Enell) which would work if my boobs hadn't DOUBLED in size. I actually feel like HOLDING my boobs while I run; howe funny would that be?

I feel like I'm running in slow motion but I know I have to just keep at it-- no matter what pace. Running is sort of meditative for me and I always feel relaxed after.

  • Today I walked... I walked hard and up hills for 45 minutes. Gotta count for somthing, right?

  • Ha ha!! Turtles running through peanut butter. That's funny
  • So the rest of my post didn't didn't show up... I just started running at the end of June about a month before I got pregnant. Before we got the bfp but after I was already pregnant, I was frustrated that this running thing wasn't getting easier. Since then, to be able to improve endurance I cut back on speed and am even improving. Today I jogged for 30 min...not fast but at least it's something.
