can't sleep!!!!

I must be the only preggo out there that just cannot sleep! Any recommendations of something natural or safe I can take to knock me out. I just need a good 8 hours, one of these days! My body must be preparing me for baby, already!!!!!

Re: can't sleep!!!!

  • Look into melatonin? I'm not sure of it's uses with pregnancy, but it knocks me out. PLEASE LOOK INTO IT WITH PREGNANCY!!! I have not so I'm not saying it is okay! (However I hope you can take it and it work!!) good luck!:)

  • I have been sleeping horribly! Like as soon as I found out I was pregnant our mattress and pillows were all wrong! And the fact that I have a toddler that gets up at the crack of dawn does not help my case!!!

  • What about foods that make us sleepy? Turkey? Hummus? I might try that tonight.
  • I'm having horrible insomnia too. Totally exhausted but can't fall asleep! Last night I tried reading calming birthing stories an listening to instrumental earth sounds. Still took me until 2:00am.

  • I've been taking magnesium at night and it has helped immensely!!! I definitely recommend it!
  • Also, i buy Standard Process vitamins because they're made from whole foods!
  • I've been awake every night for the past two weeks from 2:30-4am. I just play solitaire and sodoku on phone in bed. One night I got up and cleaned the house for 30 mins lol. And then I drag my behind outta bed at 6 for work. My drs office gives you a binder of safe things to take and believe it or not it says you can use benadryl and tylenol pm. So far I've just dealt with no sleep but I could see myself taking something if it got to be too much.

  • I once read it csn make u infertile. Pls look into it
  • Oh I have not slept a full night in 4 weeks. Wake up every two hours. My mw suggested unisom, which also has b6 in it. I feel funny taking it too much though.

Me too!! Normally I can go to sleep with no problems but for the last 2 nights I am tired but when I lay down, I am wide awake. I think it is just nerves and excitement in my case

  • I've been told Tylenol (and Tylenol PM) and Benadryl are safe to take while pregnant by my OB. I'm exhausted all the time and still have a hard time getting sleeping at night (and I wake every 4-5 hrs to pee). I use a "white noise" app in my phone, try not to eat an hr before bed, and when I can- exercise. It helps when I stick to that plan. I just feel like I don't sleep soundly and wake up exhausted. Normal?
  • I haven't been sleeping well either. There is a tea that helps me (and with a quick google search it seems safe). It's called cherry me bloom rooibos with acai made by village tea company. I get it at the vitamin shop
  • Definitely goons find that tea, thanks!
  • I've been taking Cal-Mag Citrate and I did notice it helps me fall asleep but I just can't really stay asleep. Wake up at 2-3-4, etc. I bought plant based prenatals too. Looks like we're on the same path!
  • @kneena glad to help! I've never been huge on medications unless natural stuff just isn't working. You may want to double check with your ob, like I said, I just did a quick google search. I meant to ask mine about it, but was a bit overwhelmed with the news of twins, and forgot to ask
