1 hour Fail

I failed my 1 hour glucose test and I am signed up to do the 3 hour on Friday. This is my first time doing the 3 hour since I passed my 1 hour with DD. I am not looking forward to it.

I did my 3 hr fasting and passed with flying colors.

1 hour fail was 149.

It's not fun to be there all day, luckily I needed to study anyways. Also being jabbed with a needle 4 times was not awesome. Good luck to you!

I failed the 1-hour and passed the 3-hour for both pregnancies. The 3-hour sucks, it is a lot of time to sit there, plus getting blood drawn over and over again.

Good luck, hopefully you pass and it is only the annoyance of taking the test.

Yeah, I am thinking that I will bring my school work and get some of that done since I am attempting some college courses this semester.

I did my 1 hour this morning as well. I had the fruit punch flavor and its been sitting in my fridge for the last 3 weeks so it was really cold. It was like drinking a syrupy Hawaiian Punch.

I did feel pretty weird for awhile, almost like I was getting a buzz. My doctor has the lab in house so she said I could have the results by later today. I know is not a big deal, but I am incredibly nervous.

Eta: just the call that I passed. Whew. Im glad it didn't take a few days because I have been sitting on pins and needles.

I have mine tomorrow at 9:00am...I'm more worried about how all that sugar at once is gunna make me feel. Yes, how long do the results take normally? I have to go to a Quest lab for mine.

I failed my one hour by 4 points. My doc wanted it under 130 and I was 134 at one hour. I took my three hour test yesterday and have fingers crossed as I wait for the results! Good luck!

I did mine at a Quest lab yesterday. The good thing was they had the drink cold in a little fridge, so it was cold.

I didn't think it was nearly as bad as people make it out to be. My OB, when giving me the order, said that they would have the result later that day or the next day, but would only call me if I fail. I've never wanted the phone to NOT ring this bad before

(if I make it to the end of today, I'm pretty sure I can say I passed).

Here's my story: failed the 1 hr with DS1, passed the dreaded 3 hr. Failed the 1hr with DS2, decided to boycott the 3hr. Went to my next appt, two weeks later, neither the nurse nor the doctor said a word. I had planned on just testing with a glucometer at home, but oh well!

I had my 1-hour today, too. It was not nearly as bad as I was led to believe. I had orange flavor, and ice cold, so maybe that's why. I forgot to ask how long results take - did they tell you what to expect?

I think it takes a couple of days for results. I gave them close to a week before I called and requested results.

I failed my 1hour with ds1, passed with ds2 and now I failed with this LO. The 3 hour is a loooong wait but not very different from the 1 hour. Good luck! Most women go on to pass the 3 hour so hopefully you will too! And me too:mobile smiley:

Did you mean 140 is what your doctor wanted? From what I've read and heard from my doctor anything between 130-139 is normal. I got 140 and waiting to hear back about taking the 3 hr or not. If you're doc is right then I totally failed!

Secretly, I was hoping this would be me....but they bugged me about it at my appointment and I have to go. I literally failed by one. Ugh

My doctor's cutoff is 129. Some do 130, others do 140. My results were 148 and 140 for the 1-hour, so over each cutoff, but close.

I got the results for the 3-hour the next day.

Ha! this is what I get for getting cocky, heard back.....failed by 7 (needed to be under 140 got 146!) Go back friday morning for a 3 hour. Boo...... time to start researching GD diet I suppose....

Anyway, I just got my results from my 3 hour and apparently to be considered a gestational diabetic you have to fail two out of four numbers and that's just what I did. I am a mess because I never expected to fail since my one hour result was so close. Now I'm doing everything I can to understand how to keep my levels within normal so I don't cause any extra risk to baby.

I just had mine this morning. I thought it was a 1 hour, but it was apparently a 2 hour from the get-go. Thankfully my work was understanding and I logged in from home afterwards. Felt like I totally sugar-crashed for a few hours, though!

I took my 1 hour yesterday and they called today to say I failed. My Dr said should be under 130 and I was 146 so going to the 3 hour test on Friday

The 1-hour is a cakewalk as far as all that goes (I failed it, but the process itself wasn't all that bad), and the 3-hour is less fun but it also totally doable. Bring a book, magazine, or your laptop/Kindle and hope the place has wifi. Mine did, luckily.

I did wind up passing the 3-hour, incidentally, but it was close. They actually want me to be retested in a month, so I'll have the privilege of drinking not one but two of those 100g glucolas. In the meantime I have to watch my carbs and go for walks after meals just to be on the safe side. I'm glad they're being cautious, as I'd rather know for sure and be able to address any issues. And if I do pass the 3-hour again in one month I'll know for sure that I'm safe and GD free.

It really is a small price to pay to make sure we're healthy, and I figure the diet/exercise part is a good thing either way this thing shakes out.

I took my one hour yesterday. Drank it at 3 like they told me because my appt was for 4:00. They didn't draw my blood until 4:30 or 4:40.

When my doc came in the room she said she didn't know if I was going to pass my test because I had glucose in my urine.. But they still had to send my blood off and she would call me.. So I'm still waiting on a call. Hopefully I'll know by the end of the week

She said nothing about taking a 3 hour like I expected after reading about people's tests on here. She jumped straight to "we'll get you paired up with a dietician"

I had my 1 hour last Thursday and just got the call that I failed. Booo I go back in Tuesday. The nurse didn't tell me what my number was but she said it wasn't that bad. The drink didn't bother me and it tasted ok. Guess I'm off to buy a book to read during my sit in

My doctor told me that I probably would have sugar in my urine because I had just drank liquid sugar. That's bs that they didn't get you in by the 1 hr mark.

Ugh, I failed my1 hour miserably anfd they still had me do the 3 hr. I went yesterday and failed the fasting, I didn't even get to drink the glucola. I hate needles, but I would have given anything to be able to take the three other blood samples and pass. I hate thinking of having to monitor my blood several times a day. It's been really upsetting. I haven't heard from my dr yet so I'm just trying to eat better until then.

So... After reading everyone responses I have come to the conclusion lots of women fail their one hour glucose test... It's not the end of the world.

I myself failed the one hour but this Monday passed the 3 hour test.

I think it might be due to the brownie sundae I indulged in the night before my one hour test... Word to the wise watch your sweets before taking this test :-)
