No eating:-(

I just found out that I'm 5w 4d pregnant and I can't keep any food down. Now I'm at the point that I have no taste for food period. What can I do??

Re: No eating:-(

  • I am going through something similiar (although I haven't actually puked yet, more just dry heave). I find that I'm most nauseous when I'm hungry (ironic?). I am always on a mission to find anything I can make myself eat to help the nausea subside. Last weekend, it was plain rice cakes with peanut butter. Today I'm eating this light-ish beef noodle dish.

Find something to eat -- even if it's crackers. Have a nibble, and then another. Honestly, I just sort of "make" myself try something even if I'm not sure I can handle it.

Not a perfect solution, but it's better than not eating.

  • Not being able to eat at all isn't healthy. Call your dr and let her know how bad your morning sickness is. They have drugs like Zofran that help immensely. Hope this helps you.

  • I've tried everything and I can't keep anything down, not even water.
  • @cdominique11 - I'd definitely give your doctor a call! That sounds like hyperemesis gravidarum and you should be getting a prescription or possibly an IV. Hope they can help you.

  • Your dr can give you a rx for the morning sickness. In the meantime try Benadryl and LOTS OF REST. Good luck!
  • I had difficulty with this during my first pregnancy, but once I forced myself to add a little protein to my breakfast, things got significantly better.  (I know the last thing you feel like trying to eat is scrambled eggs or peanut butter toast or a handful of nuts, but this is just what worked for me).  With my second pregnancy, I continued with the protein for breakfast and had zero nausea.  And, so far with this pregnancy, things seem the same.  Best of luck to you.  I know that is really uncomfortable.  I hope you find something that helps soon!
