Vector Graphics and Treadmill Desk

1. Does anyone do work in Illustrator? I need what I consider to be a somewhat simple, once vector but lost the file forever, jpg icon reconstructed as a vector. I'm willing to make it worth someone's while. I feel like I could figure it out, but honestly it's a bit over my head.

2. Does anyone see a reason I shouldn't hit the checkout button for this Treadmill Desk?

My husband swears he is going to get one of these treadmill desks. I want one too but the fear of falling on my face might keep me from hitting the checkout button.

if you get it I want to know if you like it and if it is worth it.

@danabsd I researched that one, actually! I *think* I decided from the reviews that I should just buy a compact exercise bike for in front of the tv, or an under-desk "bike" aka pedal set for under my desk. Maybe some reviews said it was unstable? I'm terrified of my laptop getting dropped.

I have done absolutely zero research on these things. I don't think I multitask well enough to not die.

Groupon Goods isn't always the best deal but I still check there too see if there's a really GREAT deal.

When I worked in the office, one of our executives made a stand up desk because she didn't want to sit for 8 hours a day. It was funny to go into her office for meetings because we would all be sitting and she was standing at a podium type thing. I always felt like she was lecturing at me. But she was fit so it was good for her.

@hmp1 LOL - I hope to not be seen on this gadget. I'll have to lock my door.... unless I need to lecture someone

So we are building a new facility and I'm thinking about outfitting three of our unoccupied offices with these so my employees can use them on and off with their laptops. I think I'd need a higher end desk so the users can electrically adjust the height. Would you use one if you worked at a place with them?

I think it depends on your dress code. If it is pretty cas, sure. If I was wearing heals everyday, nope.

@hmp1 Very true. Most everyone is business casual at the max. I dress up but no heels for me. I imagine I'll be chaffing thigh holes in all my dress pants. Hmmm.

Now all I can think of are sweaty feet.

@staciep76 did people like the plain 'ol stand-up desks? I was also thinking of a manual adjustable height stand up desk for all of the offices. It would be for the same user, so no need for the $2-3k electric desk.

We did a pilot with the treadmill desk for a couple of months. It only goes up to 2.0 or something like that so it is a really slow walk. I used it a few times, but just prefer the option of standing in place at my desk. I wish we had the option of replacing our desks with adjustable height ones.

@flamingemu I imagine it will be a very slow walk to be able to type and control a mouse, but if it means I don't have to come home and elliptical for 2 hours to get my 10k steps in, I'm in.

Now I'm wondering if I should get one of these desks which is twice as wide so I can stand or treadmill. They're over my budget by $500 so it might be pushing it.

You could do stand up desks and the cheap stepper things for each person if they want one. Or a balance board.

I'm a novice with illustrator, I pretty much use live trace for most of what I have worked on, so if you're more skilled at it, you'd probably be able to do it (layering shapes with gradients and such).

I bought an under the desk peddler (this one: https://www.amazon.com/Drive-Medical-Folding-Exercise-Electronic/dp/B002VWJYSE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1377662606&sr=8-1&keywords=desk+peddler ) and it has absolutely no resistance at all. And the parts get super hot once you pedal for any length of time. I still use it because I'm paranoid about getting DVTs since I sit for 10 hours at work but it is absolutely not a workout.

We have one adjustable height desk at our work and we all fight over it. Love it!

@flamingemu this one goes up to 4mph but most people go @ 1.5-2.5mph while working. What did you not like about it?

Mainly that that speed is really too slow for me. My legs are just too long to walk that slow. I know the point of the desk is to just move, but it was more frustrating that I couldn't take a full step forward. I love the idea of the desk, it just didn't work for me in reality.
