Helppp!!!! Hand, foot and mouth disease.

How long does this virus hang around for?  We are on day 3 and we are both in complete misery.  Also, any tips?  I am giving him tylenol and motrin to keep his fever down and help with the pain.  The blisters are mainly in his mouth.  He isn't drinking too much.  We have tried water, juice, milk, yogurt shakes.  He is eating a ton of ice cream and ice pops so he is getting something down.

I am literally dealing with a non stop screaming baby so if I don't get back right away I am sorry!

  • So sorry to hear your little guy got this horrible bug! It seems it is so prevalent for some reason. Maybe try making juice pops, but dilute it with half water, so he stays hydrated. Use clear fluids to help avoid mucous. Hope he feels better soon!

  • I'm so sorry!  I don't have any advice but I hope he feels better soon.  I had that while I was pregnant with LO but didn't have blisters.  It totally sucked and lasted just over a week.

  • Thanks so much guys.  All good ideas.  The dairy thing makes perfect sense.

  • No suggestions but I'm sorry you and LO are going through this. I hope it passes quickly!!
  • Ugh, so sorry you are dealing with that. Both of my girls had it this summer (a month apart from each other), and it is definitely no fun! The worst of it lasted about 4-5 days, and then the decreased appetite lingered for a bit. Both girls got a bit of a stomach virus a few days into it as well (and when I googled, it seems that it is all related), so that prolonged the not eating. I just let them eat whatever they would and pushed fluids. Hope your LO is healthy soon!!

  • This is just a ploy to get out of going back to school. He's sneaky like that.

  • Thanks so much guys.  Today starts day 4 and his fever is definitely down so I am hoping we are on our way out.  i guess it is better now than in a week when he starts daycare and I get fired because I take off right away.....or is it.
